It was good to see Mary Meyer's sketch of the Sheppard-Pratt Gatehouse in the paper the other day (April 15). I like the Gatehouse, I look to see it whenever I go out Charles Street. I look to see if Zelda Fitzgerald is there. She was standing there some 60 years ago. A young man struck up a conversation, made her acquaintance. They got on well. He told her he was an actor. That was music for Zelda. She'd recently written a play called ''Scandalabra.'' The Vagabond Junior Players were to put it on at the converted carriage-house theater on Read Street off Charles.

The "Classical" listing in Thursday's Live incorrectly stated that the Baltimore Opera Company will be presenting Verdi's "Il Trovatore" this weekend. That opera is scheduled for March 1997. Zelda: Twilight Princess Nintendo [GameCube] Rated T Well, GameCube owners, we hope you had fun. We hope you enjoyed your system and feel like you got the most out of it. We certainly did. But the party is pretty much over now, save for one more big blowout. In the weeks since its release, the Nintendo Wii has roared into the marketplace like a space shuttle leaving the launch pad. Painted a cheery yellow and filled with light, Zelda Zen is a 300-square-foot Federal Hill shop brimming with surprises. For starters, there's the colorful jewelry, including a spidery free-form crystal bracelet ($10), crystal hairsticks (right, $12) and a four-strand turquoise necklace ($32). Other finds include red "Beatle" boots by Dansko, beaded leather dog leashes and collars, Votivo candles and funky handknit merino sweaters. And then there are the feminine (yet still flashy) hats created by store owner Beth Hawks that mix leopard with florals, velvets and brocade ($55)
