Columbia student Benjamin Jarvis, a senior majoring in engineering, earned dean's list status at Messiah College, in Grantham, Pa., for the fall term. Washington College, in Chestertown, announced that Rachel Thompson achieved dean's list recognition for the spring semester. Pamela Jones, of Columbia, is her mother. Samantha Hansen was named a Dimmitt Scholar at Morningside College, in Sioux City, Iowa, in recognition of achievements during the 2011-12 academic year. The daughter of Fred Hansen, of Columbia, and Laurie Hansen, of Minneapolis, Minn., she majors in English and photography.
