Clean out your basement then shop for cool stuff and save lives in the process. The Humane Society of Harford County hosts a two-day yard sale, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 benefiting the adorable animals in its shelter, including Louis the rabbit (she's a girl) and Queenie a sweet 2-year-old kitty.   There are many ways to get involved. Here, the most obvious: 1. You can make donations for the sale. Bring your household items, pet supplies, holiday decor, games, books and what-have-you to the shelter.  (No clothing, TVs or computers)

Sunday, July 22 Reading of the play '8' Dignity Players presents a reading of "8," a play chronicling the historic trial in the constitutional challenge to California's Proposition 8 (which gave same-sex couples the right to marry), at 6 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, 333 Dubois Road. Family program The Annapolis Maritime Museum's new "Young Families" group will host the first monthly "Sunday Funday" from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 723 Second St. Programs are designed for children and parents to enjoy a Chesapeake Bay related activity.

Yard sale Epiphany Episcopal Church will hold its annual yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at 1419 Odenton Road. Hot dogs, lemonade and home-baked goods will be available for purchase. Donations for the sale will be accepted at the church from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 26-27. Information: 410-672-1511. Vacation Bible School The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 7606 Quarterfield Road in Glen Burnie, offers a one-week session from 9 a.m. to noon July 23-27 for children ages 4 through fifth grade.

Dublin United Methodist Church will hold a spaghetti with meat sauce, all-you-can-eat salad bar, garlic bread, dessert and beverage dinner in the Fellowship Hall from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Enjoy a short stack for a tall cause at Applebee's on Saturday. You're invited to an Applebee's Flapjack Fundraiser Breakfast to support Havre de Grace 27 Order of the Eastern Star from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Applebee's at 991 Beards Hill Road in Aberdeen. 'Rocky Horror' AACC Theatre presents the 1975 cult classic, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," through April 21, in the Robert E. Kauffman Theater, 101 College Parkway in Arnold.
