A convicted rapist from Baltimore County was convicted yesterday of raping a 26-year-old woman who was accosted outside a Linthicum nightclub almost two decades ago. Wendell Keys, 40, of Gwynn Oak was convicted of first- and second-degree rape and false imprisonment in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court for the 1990 rape. The jury acquitted Keys on kidnapping and conspiracy charges. He could be sentenced to up to life in prison. Keys was linked to the crime in 2005 through the state's DNA database and was indicted last year.

A 24-year-old woman was raped in a community park on Riva Road early Sunday morning, county police said yesterday.The woman was near the entrance to the park in Annapolis Landing about 1:45 a.m. when she was attacked by a masked man, police said.

Police said the suspect asked the victim for sex and when she refused, picked her up and carried her into the woods, where she was raped. In 2005, Howard County had 42 reported rapes, two more than in 2004.

A 22-year-old Glen Burnie woman was raped early yesterday after being forced into a car while she walked along Patapsco Avenue, police said.The woman said a man pulled up beside her between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., forced her into his car, then drove her to an industrial park on Ordnance Road and raped her, police said.After the rape, the man threw the woman out of his car and drove off, police said. The woman found a friend who took her to North Arundel Hospital for treatment.

A 25-year-old Cockeysville woman was raped Tuesday at a Linthicum motel where she was staying, county police said yesterday.The woman told police she was returning to her room at Motel 6 in the 5100 block of Raynor Ave. about 8 p.m. when a man followed her into the room, forced her to the bed, slapped and raped her, police said.She described her assailant as a white man in his mid-30s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He had brown shoulder-length hair, a scar under his left eye, and a tattoo on his right forearm.

A 35-year-old Lutherville woman was raped and tied up yesterday morning and a female neighbor was bound by a man who forced his way into their homes in the quiet neighborhood, Baltimore County police said. The home invasions were reported about 20 minutes apart and left neighbors rattled. The first took place about 10:40 a.m. in the 1600 block of Pickett Road, where the woman was raped. The second occurred about 11 a.m. six blocks away in the first block of Seminary Ave., police said. A rookie Baltimore County police officer was suspended without pay yesterday and jailed after he and another man were accused of raping a woman in the officer's Owings Mills apartment, police said.Kyle Alexander Wilson, 28, was charged with first-degree rape, said police spokesman Bill Toohey. A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged with a series of rapes and attempted sexual assaults that have plagued the Randallstown area since early this month, Baltimore County police said today.Ronald T. Jefferson, of the 9900 block of Hoyt Circle, was denied bail at a bail review hearing today, and is being held at the Parkville district lockup. He is charged with two counts of rape, two attempted rapes, three counts of burglary and one count of battery.Jefferson is on parole for a 1987 rape and robbery conviction for which he served almost three years of a 10-year sentence.
