Two people were charged with robbery and other offenses after a woman reported that her purse was stolen after she was hit by a car, county police said. Officers were called about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to Old Stage Road near Quarterfield Road in Glen Burnie for a report of a hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian. A 41-year-old woman told police that she was struck by a burgundy Chevrolet Avalanche, and that someone in the vehicle had stolen her purse. The woman was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

A 23-year-old Jessup man has been charged with a string of robberies, carjackings, drug offenses and weapons violations, including armed robberies of two families at The Mall in Columbia in March. After a citizen's tip, police said, they spotted Andrew Elliott Scott, of the 9200 block Volmerhausen Road, in the Kings Contrivance area Friday . He had been sought on a warrant since April. He tried to flee after seeing the police and fought with officers, who found large quantities of prescription drugs on him after his arrest, police said.

A 24-year-old Baltimore man received 85 years in prison yesterday in Carroll County Circuit Court for kidnapping, raping and torturing a Westminster woman in January, then breaking into her home in March in an attempt to intimidate her into dropping the case. Antonio Levar Brown, formerly of Payson Street, was found guilty of 26 counts after a four-day jury trial in September before Judge Luke K. Burns Jr. The 38-year-old victim testified that Brown was a cocaine dealer, and that she had bought drugs from him and sold drugs for him. She said she had owed him $80, the only apparent motive in the case.

A Baltimore man has been charged in the kidnapping and rape of a Westminster woman in January, court documents show. Olistean Alexander Jones, 21, of the 1900 block of Clifton Ave. was charged Monday with first-degree rape, kidnapping, first-degree sexual offense, first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault. He was being held without bail in Carroll County Detention Center in Westminster. According to court documents, four men took a woman from a home on Liberty Street in Westminster and forced her into the trunk of a car Jan. 11. After driving the woman to an apartment in the 300 block of E. Main St., another man known to her only as "Tony" raped her, court documents show.
