The family will receive visitors at the Singleton Funeral Home P.A., 1 Second Ave. S.W. (at Crain Hwy) Glen Burnie from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Friday. Cremation to follow.

A pair of high school students in Baltimore County placed third this week in a national competition that sought to test how quickly the youths could diagnose and repair car troubles. Anthony Critcher and Brik Wisniewski of Eastern Technical High School in Essex competed against 49 other two-person teams, one from each state, in the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills National Finals, according to AAA. The 64th annual competition was held in Dearborn, Mich. The teenagers are enrolled in a two-year Ford training program and will have full scholarships toward a degree at CCBC-Catonsville.

If the Ravens pick Penn State offensive lineman Stefen Wisniewski in April, it will come 29 years after his father was drafted by Baltimore. Of course, in 1982, it was the Baltimore Colts who chose nose tackle Leo Wisniewski in the second round. Wisniewski played in Baltimore two years before relocating with the team to Indianapolis in 1984. That was his final season in a career shortened by knee injuries. "He doesn't talk about playing in the NFL much," Stefen Wisniewski said Friday.

John S. Wisniewski, a retired Veterans Administration attorney and decorated World War II Army officer, died of a stroke Sept. 22 at the Frederick Villa Nursing Home. The Catonsville resident was 93. Born in Baltimore and raised in Canton, he attended St. Casimir's Parochial School and was a 1933 Calvert Hall College High School graduate. After completing two years at Loyola College, he earned a law degree from the University of Baltimore. He was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1938. During World War II he served in the Army and was stationed in the Philippines and saw combat action at Panay Island.

GWENNY BEVERIDGE, a civil assignment clerk for the State of Maryland, died Monday evening, March 6th, at the age of 70, in Kingsville where she resided with her nephew. Ms. Beveridge was a 13 year breast cancer survivor. She was born Gwenny Campbell to Gwendolyn Phillips and James W. Campbell in Eccleston, Maryland. During her early childhood she and her family moved to Randallstown. Her first job was with Stewart's. Ms Beveridge was a graduate of Milford Mill High and went to study Law and Psychology at University of Baltimore.

Helen A. Wisniewski, a homemaker and former jewelry store sales associate, died of pulmonary arterial hypertension Feb. 7 at her Stevensville home. She was 83. Born Helen Agnes Wujek in Baltimore and raised in Locust Point, she was a graduate of Holy Rosary Parochial School in East Baltimore. "In her youth, she sang on a Polish radio station in Baltimore and was Miss Fort McHenry in 1941," said her son, John J. Wisniewski Jr. of Stevensville. She was married in 1945 to John J. Wisniewski Sr., a heating contractor who died in 1965.

On Sunday, October 30, 2005 FRANK CHARLES WISNIEWSKI survived by his devoted wife of 72 years Stella (nee Serafin); sons Dr. Bernard (Florence) Wisniewski of Winchester, MA and Stanley (Celia) Wrisk of Catonsville, MD; daughter Carol Ann Trainor (John) of Manchester, MD; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 1 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Sterling-Ashton-Schwab Funeral Home, 736 Edmondson Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Marks Catholic Church, 30 Melvin Avenue in Catonsville.
