Gov. Martin O'Malley, continuing to build on his high national profile as head of the Democratic Governors Association, will travel to Wisconsin Thursday to campaign for the challenger in the effort to recall Republican Gov. Scott Walker. Colm O'Comartun, executive director of the DGA, said O'Malley will make a one-day trip to the Badger State to support Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett in the hard-fought contest. O'Malley will follow that trip with a three-state swing through New England.

You can add Wisconsin to the list of nonconference opponents the Terps will face in future years. Maryland said today that it has agreed to a two-year, home-and-home football series with the Badgers -- but not until 2020. Maryland will play in Madison on Sept. 12, 2020. Wisconsin will come to College Park on Sept. 11, 2021. The teams have not met before in football. “These will be much anticipated games for both our future student-athletes and for our fans,” athletic director Kevin Anderson said.

David Wilson, a son of Alabama sharecroppers who earned a doctorate from Harvard and supervises Wisconsin's 13 two-year colleges, will become the 12th president of Morgan State University, school officials announced Thursday. Wilson will replace Earl S. Richardson, who plans to step down at the end of June after 25 years. "The more I dug into Morgan, the more I realized this was a great opportunity to continue building a pre-eminent urban research institution," Wilson said in an interview.

UPDATES WITH LINK TO RESPONSE POST BY GRETA VAN SUSTEREN: After watching coverage of the Wisconsin recall, I am convinced more than ever that it's time for a major press gut check. We have been in real trouble for a long time with cable TV news, but we truly have reached a new low of partisanship at MSNBC and Fox News -- and confusion at CNN. It's the confusion part at CNN that has me truly worried these days. Monday night after watching cable TV, I wrote about being "dismayed" by the polarized place that MSNBC and Fox News had come to. Scott Walker, the Republican governor, wouldn't talk to MSNBC, and Tom Barrett, the Democratic challenger, wouldn't come on Fox. Who could blame them?

Gov. Scott Walker's victory in the recall election is a microcosm of the upcoming presidential election in November ("The lesson of Wisconsin: OK for Obama, terrible for unions," June 6). The people of Wisconsin showed that they are sick and tired of bullying unions. The unions claim to represent workers but in reality they are just interested in keeping their power. They massage the big-spending liberals and keep them in office, and the liberals massage the unions to curry their money and favor.

Danny O'Brien received some startling news last Tuesday. After finishing up practice with the Wisconsin football team, the former Maryland quarterback heard from a few of his old teammates. C.J. Brown, the man who took O'Brien's starting job 10 months ago, had torn his ACL during a noncontact drill and would miss the 2012 season. O'Brien was heartbroken. Brown is one of his close friends, someone he's talked with regularly since deciding to transfer last winter. So he did what all people do during a friend's time of need.

It worked for another post-graduate quarterback. Why not Danny O'Brien? The former Maryland star decided Tuesday to transfer to Wisconsin, which won last year's inaugural Big Ten championship game thanks in part to the play of North Carolina State transfer Russell Wilson. “Our paths are kind of similar coming from the [Atlantic Coast Conference] to Wisconsin specifically, but it's a new year,” he told reporters on a conference call. “The 2012 season has yet to be written.

After celebrating an upset against No. 4 Purdue on Saturday, Wisconsin fans are worrying about the loss of a player who helped contribute to that victory. Forward Jon Leuer sustained a broken left wrist during a fall early in the game and is out indefinitely. He is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday. Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan said he will approach this as he does when Leuer is on the bench with foul trouble. "We have to go with the next guy," Ryan said. "Are we going to whine?

I disagree with the one-sided approach Ed Schultz and MSNBC have taken in covering today's recall vote of state legislators in Wisconsin, but I praise the cable channel and its host for going out to the Midwest and covering this bellwether political and economic vote today. And while I have criticized Schultz's partisan rabblerousing, I also praise him for his ability to craft a coherent (and even brilliant if overstated) narrative to help his viewers make sense of life-changing events that are being spun like crazy by both sides and several players.
