William Murray Allen, known to his friends as "Junior" and as unofficial mayor of South Baltimore, died of pneumonia yesterday at Howard County General Hospital. He was 99.A mass of Christian burial will be offered for Mr. Allen at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary, Star of the Sea, 1419 Riverside Ave.A lifelong resident of the city's south side, Mr. Allen lived nearly his entire life in the same rowhouse on Riverside Avenue. He left only once, as a teen-ager, when his family moved briefly to Havre de Grace.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Church, Texas, on Saturday, October 11, at 10 A.M. Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.

The Rev. William Murray Correll III, executive director of the Westminster Rescue Mission and a retired engineer for Lever Brothers Co. Inc., died Friday of a heart attack at Northwest Hospital Center. He was 59.For the past three years, Mr. Correll had been executive director of the mission, where he counseled recovering alcoholics and drug abusers. His wife also worked at the mission."He loved his work and was dedicated to it," she said. "He had such a deep feeling for the men. He was like a father figure to them.

ANNAPOLIS -- His big, loud mom, famous atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair, is silent now, presumed dead and dismembered somewhere in the dirt of Texas hill country. But son William J. Murray, her one-time accomplice and latter-day foe, hasn't stopped fighting against her legacy. So it was that Murray, 53, showed up yesterday at the Capitol to testify in favor of school prayer before a Maryland legislative committee, still trying to undo what O'Hair did nearly 40 years ago. Police released the name of a bicycle rider who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run Monday in Baltimore's Cherry Hill section. James Ricks, 48, was identified through fingerprints and then by family members. But the driver, who struck Ricks and failed to stop at the scene, remained unknown. Ricks was riding his bike about 2 p.m. in the 1200 block of Cherry Hill Road when he was struck from behind by a gray or silver Chevrolet Cavalier, said police Officer William Murray of the traffic investigation unit.

William J. Murray, a plaintiff in the 1963 Supreme Court cas that banned prayer in public schools, will speak at 7 p.m. May 30 at Hampstead Baptist Church, 328 Hanover Pike, Hampstead.Mr. Murray is the son of Madalyn Murray O'Hair, the Baltimore atheist who filed the suit that eventually resulted in the banning of prayer in the nation's public schools. Ms. O'Hair now lives in Texas.Once vice president of the American Atheists, Mr. Murray became a born-again Christian in 1980.He is director of the William J. Murray Evangelistic Association and the author of "My Life Without God," "Nicaragua: Portrait of a Tragedy" and "The Complete Constitution."

January 6, 1999-May 19, 2007, MYA SUNAY THOMAS, beloved daughter of Tracey Jones and Russell Thomas, departed this life on May 19, 2007 after complications from a tragic accident. She attended MLK Elementary School where she was a second grade student. Mya was an excellent student excelling in all her subjects, especially reading. She had a magnetic personality and to know her was to instantly love her. She also loved to skate, read and play with her neighborhood friends. Mya will be terribly missed by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her mother, Tracey Jones, two sisters, Danielle Myers and Ashley Stubbs, one brother Brandon Thomas, aunts, Tonya and Rachel, grandma, Deborah Murray, Pop-pop William Jones, grandfather, William Murray, uncle, Mike Jones, aunt, Nshombie Jones, uncle, David Allen, aunt, Relana Allen, cousins, April and Hope and numerous other aunts, cousins, friends and of course her cat Tommy.
