The head of the Baltimore County school administrators union said the majority of misconduct cases against administrators can "be resolved more expeditiously. " Speaking at the county school board meeting on Tuesday night, William Lawrence, executive director of the Council of Administrative and Supervisory Employees, suggested that the union and the county work together on resolving cases more quickly. Currently, administrators and teachers can spend weeks and months investigating a teacher for misconduct, sometimes while they sit in a warehouse.

Now he was going home.Within hours, he was aboard an Air Force C-141 full of stunned POWs. When the plane went "feet wet" -- aviation jargon for reaching open seas -- the POWs cheered, cried and hugged. But for William Porter Lawrence, the euphoria was short-lived.

A federal lawsuit has been filed against the Harford County Public Schools and two school officials on behalf of a disabled student, who the suit claims was subjected to years of continuous bullying and threats from other students beginning when he was a student at Church Creek Elementary School and continuing when he was a student at Aberdeen Middle and High schools. The suit contends the school system not only failed to address the problem, but also failed to protect the student from the abuse.

On July 6, 2009, MARY E. LAWRENCE ALLEN (nee Wright); beloved mother of Dorothy Falls and her husband Albert, William Lawrence and his wife Lois, Jessie Meninger and her husband Louie, Joseph Edward Lawrence and his wife Diane, and JoAnne Zielinski and her husband Richard. Lovingly known as "Nan", she leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three of her nine siblings, Anna Most, Mabel Krebs, and Wilbur Wright. Her husbands, William A. Lawrence and William R. Allen predeceased her. A Memorial Service will be held at the Perry Hall United Methodist Church, 9515 Belair Road on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Edgemere Senior Center, 6600 North Point Road, Baltimore, MD 21219.

Suddenly, on March 11, 2003 WILLIAM LAWRENCE beloved husband of the late Gloria Lois Harvey (nee Goodman); beloved father of Patricia Ann Tietz, Kathleen Marie Bigger, Christine Diane Harvey and Carol Eileen Folkerts; brother of Margaret McKnight and the late Charles and John Harvey. Also survived by six grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, Friday 1:30. Interment private. Friends may call at ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, Thursday 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. If desired, donations may be made to Catholic Charities.
