The NFL announced Sunday night that the game was being moved to 8:20 p.m. under the sport's flexible-scheduling arrangement with NBC. So while there is a scenario in which the Redskins could reach the NFC playoffs as a wild-card team even if they lose to the Cowboys, it already will have played out before the prime-time game in Landover.

Last night, the Tennessee Titans eliminated the New York Jets from playoff contention with a 14-10 victory on Monday Night Football. One of the key players for the Titans on defense Monday night was Wilde Lake alum Zach Brown, a rookie linebacker who was graduated from the Howard County school in 2007 and was selected by Tennessee in the second round of this year's NFL draft. The former three-sport athlete for the Wildecats had seven tackles and two sacks in the victory, but his biggest play was a fumble recovery in the final minute, securing the win for the host Titans.

Head coach John Harbaugh and several players quickly offered the reminder after today's embarrassing 34-17 loss to the Denver Broncos that the Ravens still have everything that they wanted to accomplish this season right in front of them. Then, several hours later, the Ravens finally put one goal behind them, courtesy of their biggest rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers. With the Steelers' 27-24 overtime loss to Dallas, the Ravens clinched a playoff berth despite being in the midst of a three-game losing streak.

From the first day of practice in the stifling heat of August, the players for Marriotts Ridge faced almost unprecedented expectations. The Mustangs entered the season as the three-time defending Class 2A state champions and this year's team had the challenge of trying to join Pocomoke, River Hill and Wilde Lake as the only boys soccer programs in state history to win four consecutive titles. Marriotts Ridge responded in a most remarkable way by finishing the season undefeated and winning another state championship Saturday night with a 4-0 victory over Queen Anne's at UMBC Stadium.

Bonnie Wilkins of Bend, Ore., was looking for a recipe for she has lost for wild rice dressing for turkey. She said that in the late 1980s, she was living in Tampa, Fla., and the Tampa Tribune ran a wonderful recipe for the dressing that contained water chestnuts as well as other ingredients. She was hoping someone might still have that one or something similar. Unfortunately, I had no luck finding the exact recipe Wilkins was in search of, but I did find an excellent recipe for wild rice and corn bread dressing that I think would be well worth her trying.

The longtime home of James and Patricia Rouse on the banks of Wilde Lake in Columbia, where the world-known affordable housing advocates danced together to tunes from a stereo next to their living room fireplace, is up for sale. It is the home's first time on the market since the newlyweds purchased it for $95,000 more than 38 years ago. "They would put music on in here and dance. They had this incredible record collection," said Maria Gamper, Patricia Rouse's daughter, as she showed off the modern living area that her mother and stepfather shared for more than two decades.

COLLEGE PARK - Maryland tailback Wes Brown could hardly have had a more eventful day. Coaches clearly increased the freshman's workload Saturday to try to take some of the pressure off Shawn Petty , who was making his first start at quarterback. Brown, the team's leading rusher, carried nine times for 38 yards in the 33-13 loss to Georgia Tech, and he was the central figure in a new "Wild Crab" package Maryland developed last week in practice. With the Terps lacking a true quarterback, pundits had wondered if the team might use a wildcat formation.

Wilde Lake lineman Moise Larose decommitted from Rutgers on Thursday night and has committed to play for Maryland, according to Wildecats coach Mike Harrison. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Larose was an All-State and second-team All-Metro offensive lineman last season, but he has been even more impressive on the defensive side of the ball this fall. Larose had committed to Rutgers as an offensive tackle, but Harrison said last month that the coach had been getting a lot of calls from college coaches who would rather see him on their defensive lines.
