The Rev. Wilburn S. Watson, whose career as pastor of Olivet Baptist Church spanned nearly 50 years, died Feb. 24 of complications from diabetes at Northwest Hospital Center. He was 80. Mr. Watson was born and raised in Baltimore and graduated in 1943 from Douglass High School. He earned his divinity degree from Morris College in Sumter, S.C. Mr. Watson was 17 when he began preaching. A self-taught pianist, he began incorporating piano and singing into his sermons at Canaan Baptist Church in Baltimore.

McAlexander, Jr.; loving grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of many. The family will receive visitors at the Singleton Funeral Home, P.A., 1 Second Avenue S.W. (at Crain Highway), Glen Burnie from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday. The funeral ceremony will be held at the Chesapeake Baptist Church, 600 Old Oak Road on Friday at 1 p.m. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

William C. Wilburn, a retired career naval officer, engineer and World War II combat pilot, died of complications from Parkinson's disease Wednesday at Roland Park Place. He was 87. He was born in Selma, Ala., and raised in nearby Hale County, Ala., where his father was a principal and later superintendent of schools. After earning a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Ala., in 1941, he briefly taught school. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942.

South Carroll senior defender Colton Wilburn is a team captain and two-year starter. "He runs the field well for his size, is the team's best defenseman who plays the other team's top scorer every game, is great at clearing the ball," Cavaliers coach Bill McDermott said. Wilburn, 6 feet and 215 pounds, is headed to Auburn University, where he plans to play club lacrosse. He was an outstanding recreation league basketball player and was known for his rebounding ability, averaging 10 a game to go along with his 10-point scoring average.

James D. Wilburn, founder and owner of a Baltimore janitorial services company, died of pancreatic cancer Wednesday at his Edgewater home. He was 62. Mr. Wilburn was born in Madisonville, Tenn., and raised in Oak Ridge, Tenn. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1962, and served in security during his 20-year career. He held assignments in Turkey, Okinawa, Fort Meade and the Pentagon before retiring in 1982. "Much of his work was top-secret," said his son, James D. Wilburn II of Frederick.

On June 23, 2005, AGNES VIRGINIA, born April 4, 1930 to the late Eleanor and Joseph Woodland; sister to the late Eric Wilburn and wife of the late John Robert Handy. She leaves to mourn: niece Arynne Wilburn; sister-in-law Aurelia Wilburn and children she raised Alan, Nicole and Steven Fleischmann; daughter-in-law Dafna Tapiero Fleischmann; granddaughter Laura Julia and close friends Sondra Williams and Arnold Fleischmann.
