Lillian Thompson, who was known as "Nightlifer Lil" for her work with the Nightlifer weekly entertainment guide, died of respiratory failure Monday at Union Memorial Hospital. The lifelong Baltimore resident was 84. Educated in Baltimore City schools, Mrs. Thompson grew up in Northeast Baltimore and had been living at the Haven Nursing Home. She worked at various small businesses, including Gordon Cleaners, Brilliant Cleaners and Wright Optical. In the 1970s she worked for her son, Harvey Thompson, helping him establish his business, Hilltop Hardware, on Reisterstown Road.

JAMES "JIM" HOWARD EAST, IV, age 53, of Monterey, VA, died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at his residence. He was born June 10, 1952 at Baltimore, MD a son of the late James H. East III and Elizabeth Corine (Roloff) East of Catonsville, MD. On May 29, 1983 he married Lynda (Yingling) East. Mr. East received his electrical engineering degree and masters from Auburn University. He was senior associate for the consulting firm of Booz, Allen & Hamilton for 25 years. He was a member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church in Baltimore.
