A man who broke out of the Patuxent Institution in Jessup last week was arrested in West Palm Beach, Fla. Wednesday after robbing two banks by threatening to blow them up with a device that looked like a bomb.Kevin Siler, 31, who escaped last Wednesday from the maximum security prison, was arrested by West Palm Beach police after they pulled over a stolen car in a residential area, said Sgt. John English, a spokesman for the West Palm Beach police.Driving the brown 1982 Cadillac, was Siler's cousin, Lamont Randall, 35, of Riviera Beach, a community just north of West Palm Beach.

RUTH M. BURNS, 77 years old, a resident of Palm Beach, FL., died Monday, October 31, 2005, at the Palm Beach home of her son Donald A. Burns. Mrs. Burns was born July 5, 1928, in Duryea, Penn., daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Hoeffner. She was a graduate of Duryea High School and the Moses Taylor Nursing School, Scranton, Penn. Mrs. Burns was a homemaker and also worked outside of the home as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches, West Palm Beach, FL. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Donald A. Burns Foundation, Inc. and she supported numerous charitable causes including Habitat for Humanity and Doctors Without Borders.

On Monday, June 9, 2003, NATHAN ALPERSTEIN, age 89, of West Palm Beach, FL. and formerly of Chevy Chase, MD. Devoted husband of 64 years of Jeannette Hanover Alperstein. Beloved father of Byron Alperstein of Los Angeles, CA., Judith Levinson (Robert Warsaw) of Rockville, MD and Richard Alperstein (Lenny Seliger) of Silver Spring, MD. On June 29, 2006 in Lewes, Delaware, MILLARD SCOTT BRACKEN passed away at the young age of 47, surrounded by his loving family. Scott traveled the world, lived life to the fullest and fought valiantly against cancer. Scott was born and raised in Lutherville, MD and was a 1977 graduate of Dulaney High School. In 1980, Scott moved to West Palm Beach where he became Director of Public Relations for the Winter Equestrian Festival with Stadium Jumping, Inc. His responsibilities included being Hospitality Director for the Jockey Club VIP area where he supervised a staff of more than 50 people.

LUCILLE B. LOWMAN, 83, passed away at Hospice of Palm Beach County in the wonderful new inpatient unit at Good Samaritan Medical Center on February 12, 2006. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 35 years, Elmer G. Lowman, son of deceased Pastor and Mrs. G.E. Lowman of Baltimore, Maryland, deceased brother and his four sisters who live in the Towson area of Maryland. She leaves with loving, cherished memories her two daughters, Lila Lucille Hill Young, husband Jim of West Palm Beach, Florida and Linda Larabee Livingston Hill Burdick, husband Bruce, of Springhill, Florida.

A man whose father once ran afoul of the law in a notorious Baltimore County embezzlement case is in deep trouble of his own -- charged with murder in Florida and using the dead man's credit cards to fund a ski trip to Colorado.Michael Claude Diffenderffer, 26, formerly of Ruxton, is awaiting extradition from Steamboat Springs, Colo. He is the son of the late Ross B. Diffenderffer, a Baltimore County housing administrator convicted of stealing $187,723 from a rent subsidy program in the early 1980s.
