Ray and Peggy Spencer, of Perryville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah M. Spencer, to Andrew A. Hugo, of Bel Air. Spencer received her master's degree from Towson University and is employed with Cecil County Public Schools. Hugo, the son of Toni Hugo of Bel Air and Mark Hugo of Pylesville, received his master's degree from the University of Baltimore and is employed with Safeway Markets Inc. The couple are planning a March 2013 wedding.

Denver Nuggets All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony of Baltimore and actress La La Vazquez plan to wed this summer. Vazquez, of MTV fame, announced the news Wednesday on "The Wendy Williams Show." The two have been engaged for five years and have a son, Kiyan , who will turn 3 in March. Vazquez said on the show that there will be plenty of people invited because "everybody has been waiting for it for so long, we might as well invite everybody to come hang out." Anthony leads the NBA in scoring with nearly 30 points a game.

Khalilah Williams-Webb, the 29-year-old New York City stylist responsible for dressing a number of celebrity athletes and entertainers, had her most publicized assignment to date on Saturday: the wedding of Carmelo Anthony and television personality LaLa Vasquez. The star-studded event, which is slated to be featured in the couple's coming reality television show on VH1, attracted everyone from tennis phenom Serena Williams to Kim Kardashian. Behind the scenes, Baltimore-native Williams-Webb was scrambling to make sure that Anthony's best man — his 3-year-old son Kiyan — was dressed when his suit did not arrive.

I've always liked to get work done in short, aggressive bursts. From term papers in high school to cleaning the apartment last Saturday - I'll wait, wait, wait and then with head down and eyes narrowed, blitz all that needs to get done in one fell swoop. When moving to Baltimore, Sam and I looked at 15 apartments in two days. We were practically delirious when we signed our current lease, so I count us fortunate to have made a good choice. Shopping for a wedding venue was not much different: one Saturday, four locations.

This weekend my friend Laura got married, and I was a bridesmaid. Save for some varying degrees of hangover from the super-fun rehearsal dinner at Cinghiale, everything was going well and according to plan.
