The first in a series of community charrettes to gather input on the Carroll County Public Schools' Facilities Utilization Study will be held today, Tuesday, Oct. 15, beginning at 7 p.m. at North Carroll High School, Panther Drive, Hampstead. The study stems from a discussion last year in which the Board of County Commissioners requested a look at how school facilities are being used, and if there might be any opportunities to close, combine or otherwise restructure school programs.

The Carroll County Public School System will host its final Education Forum on Wednesday, April 3, 7 to 9 p.m., at Westminster High School, 1225 Washington Road. Residents are invited to attend the session, at which Superintendent Stephen Guthrie will provide information about the school system, which is the ninth largest in the state, with more than 27,000 students; its achievements; and the challenges to its finances and education programs.

On November 2, 2009, GEORGE F. (FRED), of Westminster, husband of the late Patsy Alban, father and father-in-law of Barbara and Michael Rodgers and Tom and Karen Alban, all of Westminster, Ted Alban of Towson; brothers Richard F. of Phoenix and Michael P. of W. VA.; five grandchildren and fiancee' Doris Eckenrode. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 A.M. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster. Interment will be in Kriders Church Cemetery. Visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

On July 12, 2006, D.J. KNIGHT, of Glen Burnie. He is survived by his devoted father, David Knight, Sr., his mother Lori Govachini and his loving sister Brandi. He is also survived by his grandparents, Rodney and Bernice Knight and Dennis and Rae Ann Govachini. He will be missed by many other family members and friends.
