HAMPTON, Ga. — Shortly after the 200th lap in Tuesday's AdvoCare 500, a heavy mist started falling on Atlanta Motor Speedway, forcing officials to call for a caution. After pit stops by the usual suspects, it was time to meet the new drivers atop the leaderboard: J.J. Yeley and Landon Cassill. No disrespect to those guys, but they aren't exactly title contenders in the Chase for the Championship. Imagine the howls if a deluge had come, and those guys had been declared the top two finishers.

Just 15 short miles outside of Rome lies the Frascati wine district, whose vantage point midst the Castelli Romani (hills) overlook the "Eternal City. " Urban sprawl is a constant pressure and many would like to see the vineyards fall to upscale housing because of the incredible view. The drive to keep the hillsides green is a very real and hard-fought battle. Frascati had its heyday in the 1980s and '90s. Quality made it the darling of the hip and happening wine world, but then consumer demand led to overproduction and this delicate white became increasingly light and neutral.

The Blast's Major Indoor Soccer League season ended in disappointment at 1st Mariner Arena Friday. Playing in front of an announced crowd of 10,274 — the biggest home crowd since 2006 — the Blast couldn't find an answer for the Milwaukee Wave, which buckled down on defense and took advantage of limited scoring chances to come away with a stunningly comfortable 16-7 win over the Blast for the MISL championship. It's the fifth league championship for the second-place Wave, which survived a semifinal-round scare against the Missouri Comets to reach the title game.

When the term "dead fish" became a top Google search Wednesday, soaring past the likes of Lindsay Lohan and leaving Justin Bieber in its scaly wake, it looked as if the end were near. That's what everyone was saying, anyway. After millions of tiny fish went belly up in the Chesapeake Bay this week, the populace immediately dismissed the official scientific explanation (the water was just too darn cold). What made more sense, they reasoned? The approaching apocalypse. Of course.
