Volunteers Are Needed

Aging office needs fair, lunch help Howard County Office on Aging is recruiting volunteers for its signature event - the 50+ EXPO - to be held Oct. 19 at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia. More than 100 volunteers are needed to help at the health fair, with flu shots and balloons, at Caf? 50+, with the speaker series, exhibitor check-in, transportation, elevators, clean up and many other tasks. A free lunch is included. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old. A variety of shifts is available.

In observance of National River Cleanup Week, Friends of the Patapsco Valley and Heritage Greenway will hold a stream cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon tomorrow at the Patapsco River. Volunteers are needed. The group will meet off Oella Avenue, in the unpaved parking area across from the Trolley Stop Restaurant, just past the bridge over the Patapsco River, which separates Baltimore and Howard counties. Parking is available in Parking Lot A, next to the Trolley Stop Restaurant. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing (long pants and shirts)
