Niko Amato had enjoyed solid outings this season, including a 13-save display in Maryland's 12-10 redemption win against reigning national champion Loyola on Feb. 23 and double-digit stops in four of his previous contests. But in the No. 6 Terps' 8-7 victory over No. 14 Yale on Saturday, Amato may have been at his best. He finished with a career-best 24 saves, which is the most by a Division I goalkeeper in a win this season. (Rutgers freshman Kris Alleyne and Michigan freshman Gerald Logan each made 25 stops, but they both suffered losses.)

No. 19 Connecticut took a 6-4 lead into halftime and never relinquished it, upsetting No. 7 Notre Dame at home, 10-7, in women's lacrosse Sunday. The Huskies (13-1, 5-1 Big East) won all their home games in a season for the first time in program history. The Fighting Irish (11-3, 5-3) scored just three goals in the second half, two by Lauren Sullivan. Morgan O'Reilly had four goals on senior day to lead UConn, Carly Palmucci added a pair of first-half goals and Lauren Kahn scored her team-leading 32nd goal of the season.

Niko Amato tried his best to downplay the importance of No. 6 Maryland's 8-7 decision against No. 14 Yale at Byrd Stadium in College Park on Saturday. But even the redshirt junior goalkeeper acknowledged that the Terps may have been fortunate to emerge with the victory. “It's just another steppingstone for us,” he began. “Yale's a Top 10 team and a really good opponent, and we haven't really seen much of them before this year. I thought we could've played better and to come out with a win is always good when you didn't play your best game.” Maryland should have plenty of material to review this week as the team prepares to meet No. 19 Virginia in one semifinal of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.

Between errant shots, shaky decisions or a growing sense of uneasiness, No. 13 Johns Hopkins appeared vulnerable to yet another late-season loss to Navy on Saturday. Then the second half arrived. The Blue Jays scored 11 straight goals to close the game, routing the Midshipmen, 15-4, before 3,646 at Homewood Field. Each time Howard's Cody Ford steps onto the field, he is expected to score. The man-up specialist for the Lions took full advantage of his limited minutes on Wednesday. The junior attackman scored four times, including the game-winning goal in overtime, propelling Howard to an 8-7 victory over host Marriotts Ridge in a pivotal Howard County lacrosse matchup. The Lions improved to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the league, while the Mustangs dropped to 5-3 and 3-3. Senior Sam Hebner scored four goals for Marriotts Ridge, which was coming off a heartbreaking 7-6 loss in triple overtime to Reservoir last Friday.

The House voted overwhelmingly Thursday to allow businesses to share information with the federal government that could help thwart cybersecurity threats, despite concerns from privacy advocates and opposition from the White House. The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act, co-sponsored by Democratic Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger of Baltimore County, was approved 288-127 in the face of a veto threat from President Barack Obama. The measure would allow Internet companies such as Google and Facebook to share data with federal agencies about potential threats.

Once Megan Whittle got going, top-ranked McDonogh went with her. The Eagles' talented junior attacker scored five of her game-high six goals in the first half Thursday, as the host McDonogh girls lacrosse team posted a 19-10 victory over No. 4 Maryvale. Sophomore midfielder Elizabeth George added five goals as McDonogh (15-0, 9-0 IAAM) broke open a close game midway through the first half and rolled to its 84th consecutive victory. George scored the game's first two goals, but Maryvale senior midfielder Sydney Hesselbein tallied twice to even the game.

To Navy coach Cindy Timchal, it was only fitting that senior Jasmine DePompeo broke the all-time Patriot League scoring record on Saturday with an assist. "It just comes from Jas very genuinely being an unselfish player," Timchal said. DePompeo's feed to Aimee Gennaro 13:10 into the game -- one of five assists on the day for the attacker -- broke the 17-year-old record, helping stake the No. 12 Midshipmen to an early lead in a 12-6 win over visiting Colgate. It marked the seventh straight win for Navy, which improved to 14-1 (5-0 league)

The Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team may look back on April 13 and point to that date as the program's watershed moment of 2013. After losing their last two games and three of their past four, the No. 15 Blue Jays upset No. 4 Maryland, 7-4, at Byrd Stadium on Saturday. An announced attendance of 10,233 watched Johns Hopkins (7-4) keep alive its hopes of qualifying for the NCAA tournament with its first signature victory of the season, defeating a Terps squad that had lost just once and entered the week at No. 4 on the first Rating Percentage Index list released by the NCAA.
