Like platform shoes and bellbottoms, Tom Jones has come full circle. The pelvis-thrusting, 53-year-old Welsh soulster, who was red hot in the '60s and early '70s before fading into a decade or so of obscurity, is the current high priest of hip.Don't believe it? Check out his still steamy, high-energy act at the Merriweather Post Pavilion tomorrow night.Mr. Jones has shed his skin-tight, lounge-lizard get-ups in favor of stylish turtlenecks and Italian suits. His hair is cut short and looks natural.

Close your eyes and think "fossil." What did you see -- images of prehistoric remains or hip clothing? If Fossil -- formerly just a watch and accessory company -- has its way, the latter will soon outshadow the former. The company has launched a modern clothing line described by spokeswoman Jennifer Pucci as "the love child" of two well-known labels. "Fossil has got all the basics of the Gap," she explains, "along with the punch that Diesel [clothing] gives you." That means the line has both button-down styles and funky fabrics like faux suede.

Their show is called "Mama Drama," but Gina Obrien and her daughter, Marcella Peters, don't quite act like drama queens. Unless you consider the clothes. You're pretty much forced to consider the clothes, which cry out for attention. The two wear matching outfits. All the time. Head to toe. From the artificial hibiscus flowers in their hair to their orange sandals (they have 225 matching pairs of shoes). And their matching mani-pedis. Pajamas? "Matchy-matchy," Obrien says Thursday afternoon in their Parkville home.

Like any list-driven series, VH1's five-part "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" is a mixture of the obvious and the appalling. With Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath in the two top spots, most of the list will likely leave fans pumping their fists in the classic heavy metal salute (with index and little fingers extended to make tiny horns). Among the list's big winners are AC / DC (No. 4), Metallica (No. 5), Van Halen (No. 7), KISS (No. 10) and Ozzy Osbourne (No. 18). Even influential but uncommercial acts are acknowledged, with Motorhead (No. 26)

Brigitte Nielsen, who has made a second career out of third and fourth careers, puts it this way: "People who don't have a heart are going to find it entertaining, but really it's educational and it should be looked at in that way." The Danish-born actress is referring to her earnest participation in VH1's Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew, which premieres at 10 tonight and co-stars eight other low-rung celebrities battling for sobriety. Some, such as Nielsen, who had to drink half a bottle of vodka to make the initial phone call for rehab, are still winning: Almost six months after taping the program, she said, she hasn't had a drink.
