Forget the bad reviews. And don't go to see the movie just because part of it was filmed at Baltimore's beloved Oriole Park at Camden Yards.Laurel resident William C. Vaughan wants you to watch "Major League II" for another reason -- because he's in it. Not just once, but three times as a fan."It's been unbearable," Pamela Vaughan said of her husband's loud enthusiasm for his screen debut. "We have to sit in the back of the theater so when those little yells come out we don't disturb anybody."

Dunkadelic. Until several months ago it was a word in hardly anybody's vocabulary, not even a slang word used by kids on the street. Then sportswear giant Reebok International Ltd. created a shoe with the Dunkadelic name, promoting it with powerhouse NBA players. A name that didn't exist before suddenly becoming popular. Sports commentators even used it to describe star hoopsters. But Baltimore entrepreneur Derrick E. Vaughan said he thought of the name before Reebok, and he's got a 1997 trademark to prove it. He's filed a $200 million lawsuit against the sneaker company in U.S. District Court in Baltimore for using the Dunkadelic name and reaping huge profits while his company suffered.

It's hard to feel sorry for Liberty girls lacrosse coach Courtne Vaughan when she talks about losing her entire starting defense from last year's county championship team. The reason is simple.Vaughan has a vacuum cleaner in goal -- senior four-year starter Dani Fostik.Fostik figures to stop almost everything that gets by her defenders. She saved 70 percent of the shots that came her way last season to lead the county, and she might be even better this season."Dani will be as strong as last year," said Vaughan, whose team is seeking a fourth straight county title.

Baltimore County police Capt. Stephen Vaughan can still remember the dread he felt the first time he entered the Wilkens Precinct as a youth. "I had to come here to retrieve my BB gun from an irate citizen who confiscated it," he recalled. Vaughan grew up in Arbutus and Catonsville and has returned to his roots after recently being named commander of the Wilkens Precinct. The assignment brings the career of the 27-year police veteran full-circle. "When you grow up someplace," he said, "it really is a homecoming."
