Many English words derive from Latin. Others from Spanish, American Indian, Norwegian. You name a country, an English word probably came from there. But in the grand history of William Shakespeare, some words are invented by brilliant minds. Derrick E. Vaughan, the president of Dunkadelic Sports Marketing, is one of those modern-day wordsmiths. He said he created the term "dunkadelic" in 1997 in order to find a one-word term that would combine the basketball and hip-hop culture fusion (coincidentally, he's also the creator of National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month)

I'm sure I am not the only reader who is annoyed by the constant criticism of Baltimore's sports teams by Mike Preston , especially the Ravens. His cutesy grading of the team is annoying and tiresome at best. I have no idea what Mr. Preston's background is, but his articles do not reflect a great knowledge of the sports about which he writes. The constant whining and attacking of the players and coaches is unprofessional, unwarranted and, in my view, a poor reflection on The Sun. E. S. Vaughan, Columbia

The president of Jos. A. Bank clothing chain believes that there are some guys out there pining for a new suit but holding back on buying one because of the unstable economy. So he is giving consumers a little incentive to make that purchase anyway. The men's clothing company based in Hampstead will give refunds to customers who buy a suit and then lose their jobs.
