Carvey G. Davis Jr., a former Baltimore Transit Co. motorman who never lost his affection for streetcars and was a longtime supporter and benefactor of the Baltimore Streetcar Museum, died of bone cancer Saturday at his Glen Burnie home. He was 90. "Some of Carvey's fondest memories were running and riding streetcars," said John O'Neill, longtime Baltimore Streetcar Museum president, who lives in Jarrettsville. "He was the ultimate rail fan and the last link for all of us to the great era of Baltimore streetcars," said Martin K. Van Horn, a Pennsylvania Railroad historian and streetcar museum member.

My column several weeks ago on the brutal 1956 murder of Myrtle Agnes Bopst brought a flood of emails from people who vividly remembered it. One reader, Turney McKnight, recalled the murder a year later of a Baltimore socialite at the hands of her husband, a lumber executive. After attending a cocktail party June 1, Robert Jett Van Horn, 52, and his wife of two years, Bernice Ward Flynn Van Horn, 53, decided not to spend the night at Eden Hall Apartments at 3401 Greenway, but at Evergreen Farm, their second home, on Falls Road near Shawan in northern Baltimore County.

Van Horn Jr., Gwedolyn Fabula, Anne Warzyniak, Dale Yvonne Henderson and Ronald C. Van Horn Sr. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Sterling-Aston-Schwab Funeral Home Inc., 736 Edmondson Avenue, Catonsville (1/2 west of beltway exit 14) on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the Eastern Assembly of God, 7923 Wise Avenue, Dundalk, MD, on Thursday at 11 A.M. Interment in Glen Haven Cemetery.

Coach Dave Byers talked until he was blue in the face and 6-foot-8 center Russell DeMont battled under the boards until his body was black and blue.But nothing seemed to lift the sagging Westminster basketball team until senior guard Charles Van Horn stepped forward with some major-league three-point shooting in the final month of the season.Van Horn began his show with five three-pointers against North Carroll (28 points overall) and concluded it with two important three-pointers Thursday night in a 61-42 victory over South Carroll that clinched a second straight Carroll County high school boys basketball championship for Westminster.

John C. Van Horn, a retired chemical engineer and computer enthusiast, died of kidney failure Thursday at the Vantage House Retirement Community in Columbia. He was 86. Mr. Van Horn was born and raised in Indianapolis and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in chemical engineering from Purdue University - both in 1941. He served aboard a Navy destroyer in the Pacific during World War II, attaining the rank of lieutenant, then joined Dow Chemical Co. He headed its chemical product development division and later served as president of Dow Quimica Argentina in Buenos Aires.

Point guard Sean Colson, averaging 14.5, had just three points on a 1-for-13 shooting performance. They were a combined 3-for-22."I credit our guys," coach Rick Majerus said after Utah's 13th straight win. "We understand how to win. We win with defense and rebounding."
