A Chesapeake Beach man was charged with possession of cocaine after police stopped him in the Valley Brook apartment complex Tuesday.Douglas Roland Bogdan, 21, of the 8400 block of D Street, also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.According to the report, officers stopped a car for a broken taillight. They asked to search the car and found four crack cocaine pipes under the seat.3 BEATEN WITH BATS NEAR CROFTON STORETwo Gambrills men and one Pasadena man were beaten with baseball bats in frontof a Crofton convenience store Friday.

2 armed men try to rob ice cream shopTwo masked men armed with guns tried to rob an ice cream shop in Glen Burnie Thursday night, but had to give up because the store had closed early.Police said the men, one carrying a shotgun and the other a black semiautomatic handgun, could not get in the locked door of a Baskin-Robbins in the 7500 block of Ritchie Highway shortly after 9:15 p.m.As the two turned to run from the shop, they bumped into each other and one of the men dropped the shotgun onto the sidewalk.

State Natural Resources Police recovered the bodies of two men yesterday morning after the two apparently drowned when their canoe capsized Tuesday in the Patuxent River near Wayson's Corner.Sgt. MorrisJones said the first body was found at 7:42 a.m. and the second an hour later. Jones said divers searched for several hours Tuesday but failed to find anything.The search resumed yesterday at 7 a.m. with police dragging the river about a half-mile south of Wayson's Corner, near Route 4 and thePrince George's County line.

When Valley Brook Community Church's executive pastor, the Rev. Rob Lamp, talks to his congregation today, he won't just speak as a minister. He'll be doing a comedy routine.Mr. Lamp will imitate comedian Tim Allen, star of ABC's hit show "Home Improvement," at a kickoff service for the congregation's four-week family series also titled "Home Improvement"."We're going to do a little spoof on it [the show]. I'm going to be your host Tim Allen," said Mr. Lamp, who has helped produce the church's annual Christmas program and other productions.

Police arrest 3 men on drug chargesThe arrest of two Glen Burnie men suspected of taking part in a drug deal in Orchard Beach Thursday afternoon led to their alleged supplier, who also was arrested on drug charges, county police said.Detective Dennis Freeburger said he watched as two young men emerged from a rental car at about 3 p.m. and used a public telephone at the corner of Fort Smallwood and Hilltop roads. He said he recognized one of the men as a convicted drug dealer.Believing a drug deal was imminent, the detective and a police officer driving a marked cruiser stopped the car.Police said a search turned up 5 grams of crack cocaine and $500.

A Severna Park man suffered minor injuries Friday night when he was hit by a shotgun blast while checking his house for an apparent intruder.Police said Steven Donald Becker, 34, of the unit block of Avondale Circle, was treated for pellet wounds but refused to go to a hospital. The person who shot him has not been caught.Becker told police that he heard a noise while watching television in his downstairs family room at about 10:30 p.m. He said he heard a door to an adjacent room creak, investigated and found the door open.
