On February 16, 2008, NORMAN (BUDDY) BRAUN a.k.a. "Charlie Brown" of Glen Burnie; devoted brother of Mildred Valis and Melvin Schaffer and brother-in-law of Jim Valis; predeceased by parents James and Susan Braun, also sister Jeanetta Hopper, and brothers Albert, Raymond, James and Donald. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 26, at 1:45 p.m. in The Chapel at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills. Mike McMorris' laptop holds an arsenal of musical possibilities. Through his computer and synth setup, McMorris can play drums, bass, guitar and keys, sing and create an endless number of sounds - some he's heard before, and others entirely new. On Saturday, McMorris and the handful of other computer musicians who form the group VALIS (short for Vast Active Laptop Intelligence System), will plug into a P.A. upstairs at the Ottobar and deliver a few hours of live, improvised drum and bass.

On Friday, December 30, 2005, Charles J. Valis, originally of Baltimore, beloved husband of Anne F. Valis for 57 years, loving father of Charles J. Valis Jr. and his wife Debbie, Janet Cramer and her husband Bert, Karen Lamdin and her husband Gary, and predeceased by his son Jerry Valis, devoted and loving grandfather to Kate, Carin, Jamie, Bert, Julie, Mark and Eric, survived by his brother Anthony Valis. He was a WWII veteran, active member of the telephone pioneers and a volunteer at the Bayonet Point Hospital.
