Upper Chesapeake Health and the University of Maryland Medical System have purchased 70 acres of land in Havre de Grace for future expansion. The price of the land, near the intersection of highway 155 and I-95, was not disclosed. The hospitals said the land purchase would eventually allow Upper Chesapeake to expand inpatient and ambulatory services. The land is near the hospital's Bulle Rock property purchased in 2008. The hospital is responding to expected growth and aging of the population in northeast Maryland.

RECORD STAFF REPORT | April 4, 2012
Upper Chesapeake Health in Harford and Cecil counties is one of more than 20 Maryland hospitals and organizations promoting organ and tissue donation awareness by flying or displaying flags that read "Honoring Organ, Eye and Tissue Donors" during April. Maryland's flag-flying campaign - the first in the state - is part of a national effort to bolster organ donor registries in April, which is National Donate Life Month. Hospital team members are hoping the new 3-foot by 5-foot flags will motivate their community to consider the benefits of organ, eye and tissue donation and as a result, register their decision to be a designated donor on the Maryland Donor Registry.

As 540 guests arrived at the Glenangus Farm in Harford County, they were greeted by a scene that looked straight out of medieval legend. In the middle of a brilliant green meadow, a tent that looked like a white palace rose from a rainy afternoon mist.Inside that canvas castle, the "lords and ladies," in evening gowns and tuxes, celebrated at the Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation's "Starnight '99." The evening included a cocktail hour, dinner and a performance by country music singer Lee Ann Womack.
