POLICE LOG* Oakland Mills: 5700 block of Stevens Forest Road: Someone attempted to steal a 1989 Ford Probe Sunday night or Monday by tampering with the ignition, police said.* Owen Brown: 6300 block of Setting Star: A man entered a home through an unlocked door Tuesday night, then was scared off when the resident called out. Police said the man ran to a back door, unlocked it, jumped from the deck and fled through the woods.

POLICE LOG* Town Center: 10000 block of The Mending Wall: The rear window and door of a home were found pried Saturday, but police were not sure if anything was taken.* Hickory Ridge: 11600 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: Police said someone jumped the fence at the Clary's Forest Pool Saturday or Sunday, entered an unlocked door and stole food and a radio from a snack bar.

POLICE LOG* Ellicott City: 2800 block of Forest Brook: Two boys are accused of entering a construction trailer and stealing a generator Sunday at 7:25 a.m. They were arrested a short time later as they pulled a wagon with a generator inside. The suspects are 11 and 14 years old, police said.7900 block of Red Barn Way: Someone entered Mayfield Woods Middle School through an unlocked door Sunday afternoon and stole money from the vending machines. The person also damaged the school, police said.

Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore and Baltimore County. Baltimore Western Shooting -- A 17-year-old boy was shot in the hand about 4 a.m. yesterday in the 1300 block of N. Gilmor St. and was treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. His condition and the details of the shooting were not available. Burglary -- Someone broke into Northwest Deli in the 2300 block of Reisterstown Road Tuesday night and removed $180 from a cash register. Robbery -- Police were seeking a gunman who robbed a man of $2, several pieces of jewelry and a cell phone about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday.
