United We Stand sponsors forumFive Democrats and four Republicans have filed as candidates in the delegate race in Maryland Legislative District 12A, which includes southwest Baltimore County and portions of Columbia and Elkridge.These candidates have been invited to participate in a candidate forum sponsored by United We Stand America of Maryland, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Arbutus Branch of the Baltimore County Library.Each candidate will be requested to present a five-minute introduction and outline why he or she should be elected.

WASHINGTON -- Ross Perot declared yesterday that President Clinton's $500 billion deficit reduction package would "damage the country" and vowed to wage an aggressive campaign to defeat it.The Texas billionaire declared in a telephone interview that he will launch a television blitz and direct his organization, United We Stand, America, in a concerted campaign to kill the president's plan. A House-Senate conference committee is expected to report the plan to the House and Senate by the end of this week, with final action scheduled for next week before Congress recesses for the summer on Aug. 6.An active campaign by Mr. Perot could deal a crushing blow to the Clinton plan, which is on shaky ground in Congress, and in turn seriously damage the president.

Ross Perot supporters are organizing in Carroll, hoping to elect candidates who support their views on money matters in 1994 elections.An organizational meeting for a Carroll County chapter of United We Stand America is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 467 at 519 Poole Road in Westminster.Leader Richard F. Will Sr. of Melrose said he expects about 200 people to attend.United We Stand America is a grass-roots group formed by Perot supporters during the 1992 presidential election.

Countywide meeting planned for United We Stand, AmericaCentral County membership of United We Stand, America, started by Ross Perot, has grown so quickly that the Severna Park chapter has canceled its July meeting to hold a larger, countywide meeting.The Severna Park group originally had scheduled a meeting for July 26 at the Severna Park library. The date of the new meeting has not been set.The Severna Park/Arnold chapter, one of five chapters in the county, now has more than 300 members, says Pam Asa, a coordinator.
