A 20-year-old cousin of Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake was one of two men fatally shot in separate incidents Wednesday night in Baltimore, the latest victims of the city's relentless pace of gun violence. Joseph Haskins, 20, was shot inside a house just blocks from his family's home in the Northwest Baltimore neighborhood of Forest Park. Police said the shooting appeared to be the result of home invasion robbery, but detectives still were investigating. They said it was unclear whether Haskins was targeted.

The Rev. Michael Braxton removed his clerical gown and took off his tie."This is dress-down Sunday," he told his Annapolis congregation a few weeks ago. One hundred years ago, the members of Sharp Street Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church gathered to dedicate their new Gothic Revival edifice, the first church built in Baltimore for an African-American congregation.Their spiritual descendants will gather in the same sanctuary today to celebrate a century at Dolphin and Etting streets."Sharp Street is literally the mother church of black Methodism in Baltimore, in Maryland and, in some sense, in the country," said the Rev. Church Women United in Carroll County will sponsor worship services tomorrow in honor of World Community Day. The theme of the worship will be "Circles of Love." World Community Day brings together Christian women of different denominations in a worship experience that focuses on peace and justice issues.
