Nearly two dozen alleged members of a prison gang that started in Maryland and spread across the country have been indicted on federal racketeering charges, including accusations of murder for hire, armed robbery and drug running, officials announced Wednesday. The members of Dead Man Inc., who refer to themselves as "dawgs" and espouse an anti-government philosophy, used contraband cellphones to direct activities and spread gang membership into South Baltimore, eastern Baltimore County, northern Anne Arundel County and several other states, authorities said.

Baltimore County Police said two women were stabbed - one fatally - in an incident overnight in the Parkville area. Police said that at 12:08 a.m., they responded to a home in the unit block of Lerner Court in Parkville.  A female had called 911 and asked for the police to be sent to the location, but gave no further information before the line disconnected, police said. When officers arrived, they found two females with stab wounds.  One female was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.  One person was taken into custody at the scene.

Though they aren't trumpeting it, the Baltimore Police Department's homicide unit has made several recent arrests in killings dating back to last year.  Police spokespeople said they did not know the motives behind the crimes. The arrests are a boost to a unit whose work was questioned just last week at a hearing at City Hall. As of today, the homicide unit's clearance rate is 53 percent.  -The oldest case involves the killing of Justin Marasa, a 22-year-old from Kenya found shot in a vehicle April 8, 2012 in the 1400 block of Holbrook St. Police said William Hunt, 29, has been indicted on murder charges in the killing.  -Garrick Powell Jr., 20, of Gwynn Oak, has been charged with the killing of 21-year-old John Planters, who was found in a grassy lot in the 2200 block of Annapolis Road on Oct. 25, 2012.

City police have charged two women - one who was released from jail recently after prosecutors dropped armed carjacking charges against her - in connection at least four knife-point robberies in the Federal Hill area, a spokesman said.  Officers received a report of a robbery Thursday night at about 7 p.m. in the 900 block of Harden Pl. and a description of the suspects was broadcast to officers. They found the two suspects walking in the 1100 block of Hanover St., said Detective Jeremy Silbert, a police spokesman.  Police arrested Sharticia Bryant, 21, and Keaira Vanzandt, 19, and have charged them in the Thursday robbery.

A man climbed a locked fence early on Saturday to retrieve his towed car but was discovered before he could drive away, Baltimore County Police report. On March 3, at about 2:30 a.m., a man climbed the fence surrounding the car lot at Pollard's Towing in the unit block of Ensor Avenue in Towson and was found at the lot. Perry Christopher Halley, 22 of the 1500 block of Oakland Road in Randallstown, was arrested, police report.

Three people were killed Friday after a car lost control on a curve and crashed into a milk truck in Phoenix, Baltimore County police said. A Volkswagen Jetta was traveling northbound on Jarrettsville Pike when it crossed the center line into the path of the truck, police said. The Jetta overturned on its left side. The truck struck a tree and remained upright, but its tanker turned on its left side, police said. The crash occurred at 6:09 a.m. in the 12600 block of Jarrettsville Pike, just north of the intersection with Dulaney Valley Road.

Baltimore City Police said on Thursday morning that a missing person they were seeking on Thursday morning has been found safe and unharmed. Police said in several Twitter posts, the first at 6:10 a.m., that David McLaughlin, 29, was last seen at approximately 12:30 a.m., on Thursday on the unit block of Madeira Street. Police said McLaughlin might be driving a silver four-door Hyundai with Maryland license tag number 5FE J26. Police reported at 7:01 a.m. that McLaughlin had been located.

A food delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint as he tried to deliver Chinese food at about 11 p.m. on March 5 near the 400 block of Schwartz Avenue, in Towson, police report. The robber stole cash and the Chinese food and fled. Towson Ensor Avenue , unit block, on March 9. Man's car towed for illegal parking.

Delrey Avenue, unit block, March 8, 8:30 p.m. Man followed by two men after road rage incident was stabbed in the chest. He was later treated and released from University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The two men then drove away.
