A gunman in a car shot and critically wounded two men last night in the 2800 block of Longwood Street in West Baltimore, police said.The victims told police they were standing at their car, parked near Hanlon Park, at 9:15 p.m. when an unidentified man pulled )) up in a car and asked for a match.Both victims reportedly told the driver that they didn't have any matches, prompting the driver to pull out a gun and open fire on the men, police said. No information was available on where or how many times the men were shot.

Police were searching Friday for two men accused of trying to rape and rob a bartender at knifepoint in a Brooklyn Park tavern.The victim, whose age was not released, was treated and released from NorthArundel Hospital shortly after the attack, which occurred about 1 a.m. Friday in Dinkum's Bar, in the 5800 block of Ritchie Highway.Police said one of the men chased the woman behind the bar, threatened her by holding a knife to her throat and tried to remove her clothing.As the woman resisted, the second suspect opened the cash register and tried to take the money.

County police confiscated 14 rocks of fake crack cocaine from two men Tuesday.According to the police report, an undercover detectivehad made arrangements to buy some drugs from two dealers who were tomeet him at a fast-food restaurant on Route 175. The dealers did notshow up, but detectives waited outside a gas station across the street.After a few minutes, the dealers drove up, then left the parking lot of the restaurant. The detectives followed them, stopped the car and searched the two men. They found the counterfeit crack individually packaged in the pockets of one of the men, police said.

A Glen Burnie couple was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon as they walked toward their apartment on Americana Circle, county police said.Two men approached a 24-year-old woman and her 19-year-old boyfriend at 5 p.m. One of the men pulled a handgun and said to the pair, "You know what time it is?" police said.The second man searched both victims for their wallets and took an undisclosed amount of money from them. The bandits ran off toward Ritchie Highway, police said.

Howard County police are searching for two men who robbed a Bank of America branch in Owen Brown yesterday morning. The men entered the bank, in the 7100 block of Cradlerock Way in Owen Brown Village Center, about 10 a.m. Both had their faces covered. One stood inside the doorway while the other displayed a handgun and took an undisclosed amount of cash. The pair did not harm any of the employees. Anyone with information is asked to call 410-313-3200. Metro Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the pair.

Two men were charged with first-degree murder early yesterday in the stabbing death Monday afternoon of a man who had broken into a car owned by one of the suspects in Charles Village, police said. The victim, a 27-year-old West Baltimore man whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, smashed the window of a 1995 Volkswagen Jetta about 3 p.m. in the 2400 block of Maryland Ave. and stole a jacket and a cellular telephone, police said. Two men, who saw the victim break into the car and take the items, got into the vehicle and followed him to the 2000 block of N. Charles St. There, he was tackled, punched, kicked and stabbed once in the chest, police said.

Two men were shot and another beaten with a baseball bat yesterday in a melee outside a North Baltimore bar, police reported.The incident began outside Tower's Lounge in the 4700 block of York Road about 2 a.m. when a fight broke out among a group.During the fight, Antonio Aberhardt, 22, was struck with a baseball bat several times, said Sgt. Scott Rowe, a police spokesman.One of two men standing on a nearby porch opened fire on the crowd, wounding two men, Rowe said. Louis Washington, 65, was struck in the knee, and Darryl Powell, 19, in the chest by the shots, he said.
