William Baron and Wilbur Baron -- who were billed as the tap-dancing Baron Twins -- were 8-year-olds when they first glided across the Hippodrome Theatre stage performing their signature six-minute mirror dance in 1930. Now 85, and inseparable as ever, they live around the corner from each other in Pikesville. "We have our aches and pains, but we see each other and socialize as often as possible," said Wilbur, who quickly points out his twin is "10 minutes older than me." They were born in Youngstown, Ohio, the sons of a tailor who later moved his family to Baltimore.

There was a time when John Worley could keep up with his boys. They'd run together and as Worley slowed with age, his twin boys, Mark and Bruce, kept on running, accelerating out of the back of the pack, striding on to Special Olympics Maryland medals and into manhood. It's been a while since those days, twelve years now. And as Mark and Bruce train for another Special Olympics Maryland Summer Games, John has taken on what he calls more of a "transportation and inspiration" role.

Hendrickson back on mound Left-hander Mark Hendrickson, who threw in an intrasquad game last week but hadn't faced opposition since Feb. 27, allowed two runs in three innings and got the loss in yesterday's 5-3 defeat to the Minnesota Twins. Hendrickson gave up five hits and put men on base each inning but wiggled out of two jams thanks to a double-play ball and a pickoff. His lone big mistake was a two-run homer by Joe Crede. Hendrickson, originally targeted by the Orioles as a long reliever, is fighting with seven others for three open spots in the rotation.

Tyler Joseph Thomas will turn 4 years old Friday, Feb. 17. But perhaps a bigger event will take place at some point in the fall of 2015. "When we hit that milestone we will throw a big party," said North Laurel resident Brenda Frese, the mother of Tyler and his twin brother, Markus William Thomas. Frese is the head women's basketball coach of the No. 8-ranked University of Maryland Terrapins. Her husband and the father of Tyler and Markus is Mark Thomas, a 1988 graduate of Laurel High and member of the school's state title-winning football team of 1987.
