Baltimore County is preparing to sell three taxpayer-owned properties to private developers, but members of the public won't know all the details of what they're planning until officials make a decision. County leaders said last week they would not release proposals for the North Point Government Center in Dundalk, the Towson fire station, and a police substation in Randallstown after The Baltimore Sun filed a Public Information Act request. Don Mohler, County Executive Kevin Kamenetz's chief of staff, said the county wants to keep the documents under wraps so that the procurement process is "devoid of any kind of external pressure.

Towson's Ashleigh Rohrback and Alexa Demski received major awards and Sonia LaMonica was named Coach of the Year when Colonial Athletic Association officials announced postseason honors Thursday night. Rorhback, a junior attacker from Liberty, shared Player of the Year honors with last year's winner James Madison's Casey Ancarrow (John Carroll) while Demski, a senior from Loch Raven, was named Co-Defensive Player of the year along with Hofstra's April Ianetta. LaMonica was named Coach of the Year for the third straight year after leading the Tigers to the CAA regular-season championship and the top-seeded spot in the tournament which begins Friday at Towson.

If it's the Colonial Athletic Association women's lacrosse tournament, it must be a one-goal win for Towson. For the third straight time, the Tigers nipped an opponent by one goal in a CAA postseason game, edging Drexel for an 8-7 comeback victory Friday afternoon at the Tiger Soccer Complex. Last season, Towson beat Drexel, 12-11, in the semifinal and went on to slip past James Madison, 8-7, for the championship. This time, the top-seeded Tigers (9-8) scored twice in the final three minutes and their defense did the rest to ensure the chance to defend their title Sunday at 1 p.m. against Hofstra.

William F. Childs III, a retired engineer who was an early salesman of do-it-yourself cement products, died of complications from heart disease April 23 at his Towson home. He was 95 and lived for many years in Stoneleigh. Born in Salisbury, he was a 1936 graduate of the Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania and earned a civil engineering and business administration degree from the Johns Hopkins University, where he was lacrosse team manager. He joined the old Glenn L. Martin Co. in Middle River.
