Sometime after 8 p.m. Thursday, a train will come roaring out of the north from Delaware toward Perryville at 165 miles per hour, matching the fastest speed ever attained on a U.S. rail line. After putting on the brakes, the Acela Express will make the 13-minute run back to Wilmington before sprinting down the track for seven more round trips by 2 a.m. Similar tests also are to be carried out this week and next on three other sections of track - in New Jersey, Rhode Island and Massachusetts - the first step in upgrading passenger service in those areas to 160 mph. Federal regulations require tests of 5 mph above maximum operating speeds.

Fredeking named relocation director of NRT Mid-Atlantic NRT Mid-Atlantic, a regional network of real estate companies and parent of O'Conor, Piper & Flynn ERA, announced that Linda Fredeking has been named director of relocation for NRT Mid-Atlantic Relocation For the past eight years, Fredeking worked as a sales manager for Bridge Street Accommodations, a temporary housing company based in Baltimore. Fredeking began her sales career at Xerox Corp. and moved into real estate in 1983, when she worked for Piper & Co. She also worked for Colliers Pinkard, a commercial real estate firm, for two years before focusing on relocation.

Hanover lender joins mortgage cooperative Baltimore American Mortgage Corp., based in Hanover, has joined Lenders One Mortgage Cooperative, a national alliance of independent mortgage companies. Lenders One is the nation's first fully managed mortgage cooperative. The St. Louis-based cooperative now has 27 member companies, originating $15 billion a year in single-family mortgage loans. "The recent consolidation and mega-mergers in the mortgage industry have threatened the existence of many independent mortgage companies," said Scott Stern, president and founder of Lenders One. "By banding together, our member companies are able to run more efficiently, productively and profitably, allowing them to compete in what's become a highly aggressive market."

John J. Heyn recently was elected chairman of the Maryland State Commission of Real Estate Appraisers and Home Inspectors. The commission regulates appraisers and inspectors. Its 15 members are volunteers. Heyan is a past president of the American Society of Home Inspectors. TFC Michael J. Bonczewski of the Bel Air Barrack has been named 2011 Trooper of the Year for the Maryland State Police. Police Superintendent Col. Marcus L. Brown announced the statewide 2011 Trooper of the Year for the Department during a ceremony that recognized local winners from each barrack and division. Bonczewski was named the Bel Air Barrack's Trooper of the Year last month. In addition to making numerous traffic stops and arrests last year, Bonczewski was recognized for his work in street gang intelligence and drug interdiction, including his investigation that led to the dismantling of a tri-state fraudulent prescription ring operating in Harford County.
