Space cadets! This week offers an unusually rich opportunity to watch the International Space Station during a series of passes almost directly over Baltimore. The best views, if skies are clear, will come tomorrow night and Tuesday morning, and again Wednesday night and early Thursday. Tomorrow, look for a bright moving "star" rising from the southwest horizon at 10:05 p.m., passing 223 miles overhead at 10:08 p.m., at a brisk 17,500 mph. Though Survivor: Cook Islands is wrapping tomorrow night (at 8 p.m. on CBS), don't think that the reality season is slowing down too much. January is going to be a busy time on the reality-TV front. Season 6 of The Apprentice starts Jan. 7 on NBC. American Idol starts off with four hours of audition footage on Jan. 16 and 17. Bravo's Top Design -- like Top Chef or Project Runway, but for home-design types -- starts Jan. 31. And there's Beauty and the Geek 3 on CW starting Jan. 3. So, set your VCRs, TiVos and other recorders.

ISSUE: After organizers of the financially troubled First Night Annapolis event threw in their party hats this fall, the group behind the city's Charter 300 celebration stepped in to save the family-oriented, alcohol-free New Year's Eve party downtown. There are still an afternoon children's program and a fireworks display at midnight, but the number of musical acts has been scaled back, as have the number of venues. Most of the performances tomorrow night are free, so revelers don't have to shell out up to $22 for an admissions button.

VIDEOThe man who built Vegas"Bugsy" is engrossing adult filmmaking, probably Barry Levinson's finest work, and certainly Warren Beatty's. It's a film bio of the man who built Las Vegas, a psychotic gangster gifted with vision. Beatty's Siegel is trying desperately to become something grander than he is -- he's like Jay Gatsby in that regard -- but he can't escape the violence that nestles in his soul. Annette Bening plays Virginia Hill, the showgirl who stole his heart. R. *** 1/2 . "Sneakers" is quite an enjoyable caper movie, as Robert Redford leads a league of specialists in a number of high-tech heists, all of which are great fun. They're on the track of a machine that magically breaks computer codes, which would merely make them the most powerful men in the world.
