The 19-year-old man shot inside the Morgan State University student center Wednesday was on campus visiting his cousin, a member of the school's football team, according to Baltimore police. It was a football player who first spotted the victim, said Donald Hill-Eley, Morgan State's head football coach. The player, whom Hill-Eley would not identify, saw the victim collapse outside the student center, he said. The player described the victim as bleeding profusely from the mouth and torso.

Pictures don't quite capture the full scope of it. Up close and personal, LL Cool J is handsome in a turn-all-the-way-around-for-another-look kind of way. No matter your preference, you have to give the guy his props: great skin, smile and body. Ah, if only I had it going on like that, I thought when I first saw him. But I never will. Besides, there can be only one LL. I met him about four years ago at the MTV Video Music Awards at New York's Radio City Music Hall. I was in the pack of print journalists on the red carpet, vying for quick interviews with the stars as they strolled by for photo ops. One of his handlers escorted LL over to where I stood.

True to the handle "Ladies Love Cool James," the longtime hip-hop star was greeted at Sunday night's concert at Rams Head Live by legions of adoring fans: Among those waiting to see LL Cool J's muscled form and assured stage presence, a starstruck woman eagerly showed off her cell-phone wallpaper, exclaiming over a photo of herself with him. Posters bearing his ripped torso were launched from the stage and fluttered down into eager female hands. A few minutes later, after a thunderous bass boom and a three-minute video montage, LL burst onstage with unrelenting energy, kicking off an hourlong set of his hit songs and trademark ladies'-man charm.

LL Cool J G.O.A.T. Featuring James T. Smith, the Greatest of All Time (Def Jam 314 546 819) If you want to understand how much LL Cool J towers over other rappers, look at his career. Not only has he lasted for 14 years - a positive eternity compared to other rappers - but he has enjoyed steady success along the way, selling consistently at platinum levels or higher. Simply put, there is no one in hip-hop who has been bigger for longer than Uncle L. But if you want to understand why LL Cool J is so big, simply look at the title of his new album.
