Harford County Sheriff's deputies and Maryland State Police report: Aberdeen Tinesha S. Williams, 29, of the 700 block of West Bel Air Avenue, was arrested on two bench warrants Thursday in a case in which she was charged with second-degree assault, theft scheme less than $1,000 and two counts of theft less than $1,000. David Lee Coleman, 54, of the 100 block of Farm Road, was charged Thursday with theft less than $1,000. Harry Vernon Tibbs III, 22, of the 700 block of Gilbert Street, was arrested on a bench warrant Monday in a case in which he was charged with failing to stop at a steady red signal.

Authorities in North Carolina located the car of a Pasadena man who was found dead in his home Sunday. Officers in Charlotte stopped the vehicle belonging to Darius Keenan Sr., 50, and identified the driver as Keenan's son, 26-year-old Darius Keenan Jr. Keenan Sr. was found in his home dead from a gunshot wound to the upper torso earlier that day by a family member. His car was missing from the home in the 400 block of Harlem Ave., prompting police to send out a nationwide alert for the vehicle.

Parked in Anne Arundel County and Annapolis are cars with tempting stuff in plain sight: a GPS unit on the dashboard, a cellphone on the console, a handbag with a wallet visible in it on the floor behind the driver's seat. But it isn't just would-be thieves looking to see what's in the car and tugging on its door handles. Police are doing it too, in programs aimed at stopping thefts from parked vehicles. Police from both jurisdictions recently walked through parking lots and neighborhoods, finding numerous cars in which items that would catch a thief's eye were in plain sight: keys, cash, bicycles, financial paperwork, even a washer-dryer unit for an RV. In the recent walk-throughs, only about one in every 10 cars was unlocked, though police say in some neighborhoods that number is likely nine of 10. "My purse is in there," Kim Harris said when Anne Arundel County police Cpl. Brian Carney asked her whether she had left anything of value in view after she locked her car in the lot at Big Vanilla Athletic Club in Pasadena on a recent evening.

The city of Baltimore on Wednesday accepted about $600,000 in state grants for a variety of criminal justice initiatives. The grants will fund efforts to process charges for juveniles more quickly, develop a database of juvenile vehicle thefts, fund overtime for a gun trace task force and train investigators of sexual assaults. The city's spending panel, the Board of Estimates, approved the grants Wednesday. Sheryl Goldstein, who recently resigned as the director of the mayor's office of criminal justice, was frequently praised at City Hall for her ability to secure grants for police initiatives.

Anne Arundel police have charged a 19-year-old city man with burglary after he was spotted carrying a TV at the North Linthicum Light Rail Station. Corey Monte Williams, of the 1800 block of Woodbourne Avenue, faces two counts of burglary and one count of theft in the incident Friday. Witnesses told police they had seen a man walking along Regency Circle near Minta Court with a television in his hands. A homeowner in the 200 block of Minta Court had just reported a stolen TV, police said.

A veteran Baltimore police detective must resign from the department after being placed on probation for stealing groceries with her daughter, a cashier at the store where the theft occurred. Darlene Early, a Western District detective who joined the department in 1990, entered an Alford plea Wednesday to one count of theft under $1,000. An Alford plea allows a defendant to maintain innocence while admitting that prosecutors have enough evidence for a conviction. Her 18-year-old daughter, Ciara Anderson, pleaded guilty to the same charge, prosecutors said.

One man's arrest on an Annapolis street became another's opportunity to steal his car. Howard E. Durley, 29, left his Chevrolet Tahoe idling late Monday in the middle of the intersection of Juliana Circle and Newtowne Drive. City police officers, patrolling the area, spotted Durley assaulting a woman at the location and pursued him. He dropped suspected drugs on a chase through the neighborhood. While they were arresting Durley for possession and other charges, Barry J. Butler, 31, hopped into the driver's seat of the Tahoe and sped off, leading officers on a second chase, this one by car. Both city residents are now incarcerated at the Jennifer Road Detention Center.

Baltimore County Police say they arrested a man on the Fourth of Jjuly in connection with the theft of six air conditioners from apartments in Loch Raven Villlage. The incident occurred in the 1700 block of Aberdeen Road, at about 4:37 a.m. July 4, according to police reports.. Six air conditioning units were stolen from Loch Raven Village Apartments, and all were later recovered. Police said Derrick Navon Edmondson, 32 of the 1700 block of Edgewood Road, was arrested and charged with second degree burglary.
