Jim and Karen Claypool of Abingdon announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Claypool, to Steve Thacker, the son of Sam and Janet Thacker from Aberdeen. Claypool graduated from Bel Air High School and received her undergraduate degree from Washington College. Thacker graduated from Aberdeen High School and received his undergraduate degree from Towson University. Both are continuing their education in North Carolina. Claypool is a doctorate student at the University of North Carolina and Thacker is working on his master's degree at the East Carolina University.

A 20-year-old Reisterstown man with no previous criminal record was sentenced yesterday to 100 years in prison for the killings of a teenager and his uncle in what authorities described as a botched attempt to steal drugs and money from the victims' apartment. Karl Maurice "Six" Sowers had interrupted his trial in March, deciding on the third day of testimony to enter a guilty plea to first-degree murder. In exchange, prosecutors withdrew the notice of their intention to seek a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Three additional men have been charged in a double homicide last month in an Owings Mills apartment, police said. Brian Bartee, 18, of the 9300 block of Leigh Choice Court in Owings Mills, Kion Coulter, 26, of the first block of Rocky Brook Court in Woodlawn and Marcus Pettiford, 19, of the first block of Sesame Court in Reisterstown were arrested Friday. Each was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, police said yesterday. The men were being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center after being charged in the deaths of Howard Thacker Jr., 35, and his 17-year-old nephew, Dante Rodney Thacker.

Police are seeking a sixth man in a double homicide at an Owings Mills apartment in October. Karl Maurice Sowers, 18, of the 200 block of Caraway Road in Reisterstown has been charged in a warrant with first-degree murder in the deaths of Howard Thacker Jr., 35, and his nephew, Dante Rodney Thacker, 17, police said yesterday. Sowers is the sixth person to be charged with first-degree murder in the investigation, police said. The bodies were found in an apartment in the 100 block of Village Mill Court after an apparent robbery, police said.
