Pro Bowl linebacker Terrell Suggs was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week today after his performance in the Ravens' 35-7 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday afternoon. Suggs, 28, had a record-setting afternoon at M&T Bank Stadium, recording three sacks of Ben Roethlisberger to go along with two forced fumbles and five total tackles. The three sacks gave Suggs 71 1/2 for his career, surpassing Peter Boulware (70) and setting a new Ravens' record. “That wasn't a goal of mine to get the sack record, but then, before you go into it, you are only 1½ away," Suggs said following Sunday's game.

Ravens Pro Bowl outside linebacker Terrell Suggs behaved for most of his time with the media -- until someone asked him about New York Jets coach Rex Ryan's tattoo. Ryan used to be the Ravens defensive line coach and coordinator. Suggs remains close to Ryan. "I probably got something on my ass that ya'll never see that is probably inappropriate," Suggs said. "Who cares? I think you guys blew it way out of proportion. I don't really think it's a big deal. I think everybody should have a certain amount of privacy, even though they are in the public eye, no matter who they are. Even our president deserves a certain amount of privacy.

Last weekend, the Ravens drafted Alabama linebacker Courtney Upshaw to complement Terrell Suggs, the 2011 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. But after today's unfortunate news, Upshaw might have to try to replace him -- if not at his position, then at least in terms of impact. Suggs has sustained an injury to his Achilles tendon . It could be a tweak or a partial tear. Or it could also be a full tear, which would likely sideline him for all of 2012. Suggs will get checked out in a few days, and the Ravens asked for caution as they await an answer.

Remember back in September when a running back that Terrell Suggs had never heard of rumbled for 144 yards and a touchdown against the Ravens? Well that no-name back is now the cover boy for the next installment of the popular "Madden" franchise. Browns running back Peyton Hillis won a bracket-style tournament using fan votes to determine which player EA Sports would put on the "Madden 2012" cover. Hillis beat out players such as Ray Rice and Aaron Rodgers on the way to the finals, where he nearly doubled up Michael Vick to get his mug put on video game boxes.

The NFL owners and players have a few final hurdles to clear before labor peace is reached, but Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs thinks it is "ridiculous" that the two sides have yet to agree on a new collective bargaining agreement. He didn't point any fingers; he just expressed disappointment with the situation. “I think it's bananas. It's crazy that we're still here, that we ain't got nothing done. What's going on right now is just ridiculous,” Suggs said Friday afternoon.

Ravens Pro Bowl outside linebacker Terrell Suggs and his fiancee', Candace Williams, reached a global resolution agreement Tuesday morning in Baltimore County Circuit Court regarding custody and visitation involving their two children. Williams voluntarily removed a temporary protective order filed Nov. 20 that alleged the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year punched her in the neck in early September and drove a car containing their two children "at a high rate of speed," while she was dragged alongside.

Perhaps, Terrell Suggs will eventually find the time to deliver the "I told you so's. " Perhaps, the Ravens' normally loquacious linebacker will eventually detail his remarkably quick recovery from a torn right Achilles tendon, and concede that he had doubts that he would be able to play meaningful football this season. But you won't get any of that from Suggs these days. The bye week gave Suggs a chance to rest his surgically-repaired Achilles and reflect on how he made it back from a potentially career-threatening injury in 5 1/2 months, Suggs returned to practice this week, intent on helping a struggling defense, not basking in the adulation from teammates, fans and opponents, many of whom didn't believe such a rapid return was possible.

Since the season began, Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs has kept a relatively low profile as he rehabbed his surgically-repaired right Achilles. He strolled through the locker room on occasion, saying very little and declining to update his status with reporters. But the biggest sign that Suggs is getting closer to a return came Wednesday when the movie "Goodfellas" blared from his locker. Suggs, a film buff, watches movies as he gets ready for practice. "You can hear it in the locker room now. There's already a change in the atmosphere with [Suggs]

Last month it appeared that Terrell Suggs had gone underground. The injuries to the Ravens Pro Bowl outside linebacker kept mounting, and an altercation with his longtime girlfriend - now his wife - seemed to sour him. But on the day Ray Lewis - his long-time mentor and friend - announced his retirement, Suggs gave his first local interview in three or four weeks. He seemed far from disappointed with his team, personal life and injuries, but was emotional when speaking about Lewis.

Terrell Suggs' vow since tearing his right Achilles in late April was that he would run out of the tunnel and play meaningful football during the 2012 season. Suggs was always non-committal when that would be and that remained the case Thursday in his first public comments to the Baltimore media since June. "There is no plan in place so we have to take it day-by-day," said Suggs, disputing an ESPN report that he plans to play Sunday against the Houston Texans and that his family and friends will attend the game to witness his comeback.
