Six Mount Hebron High School students were arrested at school yesterday and accused of participating in a beating that sent a former student to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, police said. The arrest of the six teen-age boys from Ellicott City brings to eight the number of youths arrested after the Wednesday attack on 18-year-old Sean Heidari of Ellicott City. Howard County police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn said police do not expect to make more arrests. Heidari, who was briefly hospitalized with cuts and bruises and a small puncture wound in the back of his head, has been discharged from the hospital, according to a spokeswoman.

Betty Tape staggered into the dimly lit room wearing a red feather boa, and an evening gown that was torn and splattered with blood. Her face was bruised and she had a noose around her neck. "My dress is ruined," she wailed as she fell backward onto the floor and died. Well, not really. Actually, she was playing the part of a flamboyant philanthropist in the premiere of an interactive murder mystery called CSI Glen Burnie by Do or Die Productions Inc. at Whispers Restaurant on Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie.

Question: How do you turn a one-time investment of $200 into an annual return of $1,000 or more?Answer: Give it to some senior volunteers who want to open a craft shop, then get out of the way. That's what Baltimore County's Department of Aging did in 1986, when it outfitted a trailer in Cockeysville and let the seniors set up shop. Since then, the Senior Craft Sales Gallery has moved into a room at the Loch Raven Senior Center, 1801 Glen Keith Blvd., one block east of Loch Raven Boulevard.

The death of former Maryland star Len Bias was not the only drug-related tragedy to taint the 1986 NBA draft. Chris Washburn, William Bedford and Roy Tarpley - the third, sixth and seventh picks, respectively - all saw their careers cut short by drug problems. "It was a really good draft and guys found a way to screw it up," said college basketball analyst Jay Bilas, who had just finished his own college career at Duke and was a second-round draft choice that year. Yet that troubled group might have had an impact in the way NBA general managers and scouts looked into the backgrounds and social habits of the players they were interested in drafting.

Other than winning a championship, few moments in sports are as special as setting a record on a night your team wins. Dennard Melton had both last night as No. 15 Severn School routed Old Mill, 62-48, in Severna Park.Melton, the Admirals' 6-foot junior guard, tossed in 20 points. The first nine broke the school's career points record (1,490).He will add to the 1,503 points he now has over the next two seasons and is on pace to become the first Anne Arundel County boys player to crack 2,000 points and even has a shot at 3,000 in his senior year.
