The Target opening this fall in Canton at one of the city's largest new retail developments will be joined by a Harris Teeter grocery store and a lineup of stores and restaurants that includes Old Navy, Michaels, Loft, ULTA Beauty and Red Robin Gourmet Burgers. The developer of The Shops at Canton Crossing announced those tenants and others Monday and said it has leases or commitments for most of the 325,000-square-foot-center under way on Boston Street. Construction has begun on a 135,000-square-foot Target and some of the other stores, while Harris Teeter will start construction on a store in the next few weeks.

Navy's offense returns its top two scorers from last year in junior attackmen Tucker Hull (23 goals and 24 assists) and Sam Jones (18, 13). After them, only one other player (attackman Taylor Reynolds who has since graduated) finished with more than 20 points. That includes the midfield, a group that returns a pair of starters in junior Pat Durkin (13, 1) and senior Bryce Dabbs (9, 3). The midfielders will be counted on by coach Rick Sowell to be more effective in the upcoming campaign.

A 23-year-old man was shot in Glen Burnie on Monday night after he tried to flee an armed man who approached his vehicle and announced a robbery, Anne Arundel County Police said Tuesday. The victim may have been targeted and the shooting was "not a random act of violence," police said. Police responded to Baltimore Washington Medical Center about 9:40 p.m. and found the victim, who had driven himself to the hospital, with a gunshot wound, police said. The victim told police he was sitting in his parked vehicle in the 7800 block of Southhampton Drive when the armed man approached the car. The victim said he tried to drive away, and the man fired into his vehicle before fleeing into a wooded area, police said.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's swan song before the Senate and House committees on foreign affairs was in a sense a prelude to any future bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. It gave Republicans a last chance to cast her as an irresponsible guardian of American security in the Benghazi terrorist attack while she held the reins at the State Department. A host of Republicans on both committees filled the official record with direct or inferential attacks on her role, certain to be dusted off and resurrected should she make a second bid for the Oval Office in 2016.

Editor's note: Each week, InsideMdSports.com provides this blog with a Maryland recruiting feature that previously appeared as premium content on its site. Despite his team's early struggles, which included a 2-7 start, St. James (Hagerstown) junior Obi Enechionyia is living up to his billing. Enechionyia, a 6-foot-8 forward and prime Maryland recruiting prospect, is averaging 21 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks while leading his team to five consecutive wins - including a 21-point, 17-rebound, six-block performace in a two-point win over Potomac School last Friday.

Petition signature collectors have hit the streets again in Baltimore County for a referendum effort on development issues - this time targeting a recent County Council bill that would protect a Middle River project from an earlier referendum challenge. Last month, County Councilwoman Cathy Bevins, a Middle River Democrat, sponsored and won approval for a bill that would let a Middle River development proceed, even if the zoning is overturned through a pending referendum attempt.

Our favorite Hamptonites return from winter break, though it is summer in the Hamptons now, which is just rubbing it in because most of us were watching this wearing a sweatshirt and covered in a blanket. But they came back in grand style. The magic "X" red marker returned, as did a lip lock with an ex, a drug bust and some good old fashioned black mail. Emily reminded me why I loved this show to start with - the targets that she took down, one by one. Tonight's target was Judge Barnes, who you may have recognized as Joe Biden's doppelganger.

Activists, public officials and residents gathered Saturday outside an east Baltimore liquor store — where a man was severely beaten on Christmas Day — to protest violent attacks on gay people Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts told the crowd of about 40 people that his department plans to set up an advisory group to meet monthly to work with gay, lesbian and transgender people. "I want to come together as a community and make sure we connect and do the right things for every part of our community," said Batts, who became commissioner late last year.

The school shooting in Newtown, Conn., once again highlights the need for such sensible gun control measures as restoring the ban on assault rifles and eliminating the gun show loophole for background checks ("What must be done," Dec. 26). The key factor that distinguishes the U.S. from other countries that have far lower murder rates is not mental health or video games but the availability of guns. Beyond those steps, however, it's time to repeal the Second Amendment. The amendment states, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Anquan Boldin has been diagnosed with a bruised shoulder, and the Ravens wide receiver's availability for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals is uncertain. “Anquan's got a shoulder bruise,” coach John Harbaugh said Monday. “So we'll see how that develops during the course of the week. All the other stuff that we had were basically things that will be day-to-day type things. There were no major injuries. So we're very fortunate there. So we continue to get a little bit more healthy, and some of the guys who have been working through some injuries should get a little bit better throughout the course of the week.” Harbaugh's latter comment presumably referred to a pair of injured starters in strong safety Bernard Pollard and outside linebacker Albert McClellan, who did not suit up for the Ravens' 33-14 thumping of the New York Giants Sunday evening due to rib and hamstring ailments.
