A third person has been arrested in connection with a November armed robbery in Aberdeen. Jerrard Christopher Wilmore, 21, who has addresses in the first block of Church Green Avenue in Aberdeen and the first block of Collins Drive in Perryville, was arrested Thursday. He is charged in the Nov. 12 robbery of Northside Liquors, in the 200 block of North Philadelphia Boulevard, with armed robbery, robbery, first- and second-degree assault, use of a handgun in commission of a felony and theft less than $1,000.

Amelia J. Brooks, a retired store manager and active church member, died Feb. 16 from heart failure at a daughter's home in Buford, Ga. The former longtime West Baltimore resident was 90. The daughter of a cobbler and a housekeeper, the former Amelia Juanita Soden was born in Baltimore and raised near Harlem Park. Mrs. Brooks was a 1941 graduate of Frederick Douglass High School and at an early age began attending church at Union Baptist Church and Douglas Memorial Baptist Church.

The Big Screen Store in Towson is now sharing top billing with its sister store. The retailer of home audio and video equipment is relocating to the building occupied by The Sofa Store, which are both owned by the Luskin family. The two will share a 50,000-square-foot space that The Sofa Store moved into last year. The location, off Cromwell Bridge Road , is just across the parking lot from the original Luskin Hill building where the home theater retailer opened in 1996. The store's owners said the move was an effort to streamline costs and operations.

Several weeks ago, a friend of mine told me about the old Laurel Cemetery in the city's Belair-Edison neighborhood that had once been the premier resting place for Baltimore's African-American community until disappearing when the site was redeveloped as a shopping center in the late 1950s. It was traditional during the early years of the 19th century that African-Americans were buried in "colored burial grounds" owned by black churches. In 1851, Thomas Burgan Jr., a prominent businessman, sold a parcel of land on Belle Air Avenue to several businessmen who developed the land into a cemetery for the interment of the "colored people of the city and county of Baltimore.

A convenience store supplier located in Anne Arundel County is closing its doors and plans to layoff about 200 workers. Eby F.A. Davis LLC, a division of the Illinois-based Eby-Brown Co., will be ending operations at its Baltimore-area facility and conducting layoffs of 194 employees in two phases, according to a statement Friday from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. The first phase will occur over a two-week period in mid-April; the second will be during a two-week period in mid-May, the department said.

When the first customers enter Under Armour's new Brand House in Harbor East Saturday morning, they'll have little choice but to think "Baltimore. " The shirts displayed at the front of the store promote Baltimore neighborhoods such as Fells Point and Canton and sport iconic symbols like Mr. Boh. Banners next to the main entrance honor NFL great Ray Lewis and the Ravens. Swimmer Michael Phelps adorns the side of the building facing the water. Inside, there are vintage-style shirts with crabs and others showing the outline of a Raven image with famous city streets and places spelled within.

The Freshii on Light Street downtown has closed. The other Baltimore location, on St. Paul Street in Charles Village, will remain open, the company says. "Closing a restaurant is never something we want to do,'" said Freshii project manager Mia Jacobs in an emailed statement, "however it is the right move when it means we can refocus our efforts on other opportunities within the community, such as our Charles Village location. " Founded in 2005 in Toronto, Freshii provides a fast-food alternative with customer-created salads, wraps, soups and bowls.

  Arts and crafts retailer Michaels will give out more than $100,000 in gift cards Sunday at its stores in honor of "Random Acts of Kindness Day. " The Irving, Texas, -based chain, which has 1,100 stores in the U.S. and Canada, handed out the freebies at random last year too, in hopes of encouraging customers to "craft it forward" with their own random act of kindness. The store asks customers to visit Michaels Facebook page this week and share acts of kindness. And they can check Michaels Random Acts of Kindness Pinterest board for ideas for craft projects to give to others.

Baltimore County will be getting two new Weis Markets soon -- a supermarket in Towson Place  in Towson and one on Security Boulevard in Woodlawn. Both stores will open Sunday, March 3. Weis said it invested $14 million in the more than 55,000-square foot space vacated by Super Fresh in Towson and in the more than 58,000-square-foot Woodlawn store. The supermarkets will employ 400 workers and are still hiring. Each will feature 600-item produce departments with organic food, pharmacies, full-service meat and seafood departments and large deli/prepared food departments.
