County police arrested a Baltimore man Wednesday evening for allegedly trying to shoplift $130 worth of compact discs from JTC the Caldor store in the 7300 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., authorities said yesterday.A security officer at the Caldor store said that he saw a man come into the store shortly after 6:30 p.m., put six compact discs under his jacket and try to leave the store without paying for them.The security officer stopped the man and recovered the property.He held the man until a Northern District officer arrived and took him into custody, police said.

Someone stole a pit bull puppy valued at $189 Monday from a pet store in the Waterford Plaza, police said.The owner of Small Precious Animals in the 8200 block of Ritchie Highway told police a man came into his store about 5:30 p.m. and seemed interested in a brown, 8-week-old pit bull.The owner said he took out the trash, returned and saw the maleaving. The man claimed his children were interested in the pit bull, police said.The owner said he noticed the dog was gone about 25 minutelater when he went to water the puppies.

Boy, 9, dies of injuries from Nov. 4 car accidentA 9-year-old who was hit by a car in Severn Nov. 4 has died from his injuries.Keith Gregory Pevear, of the 7900 block of Citadel Drive, Severn, was pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Hospital Tuesday morning.The boy was hit by a car Nov. 4, shortly before 6 p.m., when he darted onto the rain-soaked street on Ridge Road near Pometacom Drive in Severn.He was hit by a 1984 Oldsmobile driven by Ross Larry Brinson, 16, of the first block of Otis Drive, Severn.
