A former Baltimore County prosecutor was convicted Friday of armed carjacking and robbery for stealing a car at knifepoint from two women outside a store in January last year, according to the State's Attorney's Office. Isaiah Dixon, 55, was ordered to the Baltimore County Detention Center and is scheduled to be sentenced June 1. Dixon had worked as an assistant state's attorney for nearly eight years, until July 1997, and was in private practice until he was disbarred in 2010 after a history of drug problems and his arrest in the carjacking.

An Annapolis man was charged with driving while intoxicated after being accused by police of going 80 mph on Forest Drive and later punching an officer. Robert Henry Zier, 59, of Sands Avenue was stopped about 9:45 p.m. Sunday after he was seen traveling at twice the 40 mph limit in a gray 2001 Porsche and crossing the center line, police said. Zier was arrested and later fell and struck his head on the floor of his holding cell, according to police, who said that when officers went to his aid, he punched one of them in the arm. Zier was treated and released from Anne Arundel Medical Center for his head injury, which was not serious.

POLICE* New Windsor: A resident of the 4100 block of Sams Creek Road told state police that someone broke into his 1990 Ford truck on Dec. 3 and removed a stereo and speakers, damaged the amplifier, and stole a car vacuum and a spotlight. He estimated the loss at $1,993.

POLICE LOG* Pasadena: Someone smashed the rear hatch window of a car parked in the 100 block of Magothy Beach Road Tuesday and stole $4,500 worth of stereo equipment.* Burwood Gardens: Someone stole a car from the 300 block of Lindera Court around 4 a.m Monday and returned it six hours later, minus the stereo system and two amplifiers and with a damaged tire. Property loss and damage was estimated to be more than $2,000.

POLICE LOG* Brooklyn Park:A lawn mower worth between $200 and $300 was stolen from the shed of a home in the unit block of Church Street Monday.* Brooklyn Park:Thieves broke into the K&T Body Shop Friday night and stole a car that had been in the lot for repairs.Police said thieves smashed a window out of the office in the 5800 block of Ritchie Highway and took several sets of keys that were hanging on a peg board. A 1992 Honda Accord was then taken.

An Aberdeen Proving Ground soldier convicted in February of stealing a car with the owner's 5-year-old son in the back seat was sentenced yesterday to 30 years in prison. Brandon Lee Taylor, 19, who was a private-in-training with the 143rd Ordnance Battalion, stole a car July 3 last year from a gas station in the 1700 block of Hanson Road in Edgewood and crashed into a utility pole. Prosecutors said Taylor was attempting to flee the state to avoid an overseas deployment. The owner of the vehicle jumped onto the side of the vehicle and was injured in the crash.

Three teen-age boys who ran away from a low-security juvenile detention center in Carroll County on Monday night - including one who stole a car - were back in custody by yesterday afternoon, state police said. The teens were reported missing about 9:20 p.m. after they failed to appear for an evening headcount at the Thomas O'Farrell Youth Center in Marriottsville, said LaWanda G. Edwards, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Juvenile Services. The facility is unsecured, she said.

A Pasadena man was arrested Friday morning after police said he stole a car, eluded police and tried to break into a house to hide.Charles Crosby Lowery, 25, of the 100 block of Dunlap Road was charged with fourth-degree burglary, stealing an auto worth more than $300 and three counts of destruction to property.Police said a man driving a 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was seen violating several traffic laws on eastbound Duvall Highway at about 4: 15 a.m.When police tried to pull the vehicle over on Hilltop Road, the driver jumped out and ran. The car continued to roll forward, striking a mailbox and a chain-link fence.
