A U.S. Marshals task force in North Carolina arrested a Baltimore man Friday in the fatal stabbing of a 31-year-old woman in the Lakeland neighborhood. Along with Winston Salem, N.C., police, task force officers found Michael Gerald Wesley, 34, at a bus stop in Winston Salem through tips and surveillance. When they moved to make an arrest, authorities said he tried to evade capture by hiding his face and ducking into a business. As he was heading for a back door in a business, U.S. Marshals Service officials said, deputy U.S. Marshals detained him without incident.

When De'ontae Smith was fatally stabbed and two friends were injured three blocks from the route of the Ravens' Super Bowl victory parade, police initially said the celebration was unrelated to the violence. As it turned out, the teen had cut school to cheer on the team. Officials have since said they didn't know enough at the time to conclusively link the events. The Baltimore Sun wanted to know: How were various city agencies talking about the stabbing in the minutes and hours after it took place?

A Parkville man has been charged with stabbing a victim and fleeing with drugs Saturday, Baltimore County police said. Police said Joshua Ritter, 28, had met his victim for a drug transaction when Ritter pulled out a knife and demanded the drugs. The victim, who was not identified, was stabbed several times. Officers and medics were called to a home in the 2500 block of Creighton Avenue at about 9:25 p.m. The victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening Ritter, of the 2500 block of Wycliffe Road, is charged with attempted first degree murder, armed robbery and first degree assault.

Baltimore police say a man who was stabbed early Sunday at the entrance of the city's 24-hour emergency shelter has died. The adult male was seriously injured about 5:45 a.m., according to officials. In a statement, police spokesman Detective Vernon Davis said the man had been taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, "but despite medical effort, he succumbed to his injuries. " Police have not identified the victim. Police said preliminary investigation suggested the victim and another person had an argument inside the shelter.

A Harford County man accused of stabbing his roommate multiple times in a fight over a cellphone Friday has been charged with first degree assault and attempted second degree murder, the sheriff's office said. Antoine Eugene Parker-Washington, 27, from Abingdon was being held on a $500,000 bond following the charges in connection with the stabbing of his roommate, Michael Darren Thomas, 27. Deputies responded to the pair's apartment in the Woodsdale complex shortly before 10 p.m. and found Thomas suffering multiple stab wounds, officials said.

An Abingdon man was stabbed multiple times Friday evening during an argument with his roommate, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said. The unnamed 27-year-old man was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to a sheriff's office news release. It said his condition is not known. The roommate, also a 27-year-old man, was taken into custody by deputies. Deputies responded about 9:45 p.m. to the 100 block of Waldon Road for a report of a stabbing. The investigation is continuing.

A man who had been involved in a road-rage incident was stabbed on a street in Catonsville Friday night, Baltimore County Police said. Officers responding to a call at 8:39 p.m. found the wounded man in the unit block of Delrey Ave. in the Wilkens District. The victim told police two men involved in the dispute followed him to the location by car and that one of the men stabbed him in the chest before the pair drove off in an unknown direction. The injured man was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma, where he is being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Bel Air police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a stabbing that wounded two people in a parking lot outside the Dark Horse Saloon Dec. 1. Tyron Lee Fuqua, 33, of the 1800 block of North Wolfe Street in Baltimore, was picked up Friday in Baltimore City by the Baltimore Police Department, according to a Bel Air Police Department news release. Fuqua is being held at the Harford County Detention Center on a no bond indictment, according to the release. Fuqua has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault and three counts of second-degree assault, according to Maryland electronic court records.

Baltimore police are investigating six separate homicides that occurred over the weekend, a burst of violence in a city that had logged 29 homicides in 2013 before that point. About 12:30 a.m. Monday, police responded for reports of a shooting in the 2800 block of Mosher Street and found an unresponsive male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso, police said. The victim, who has not yet been identified and whose age was not available, was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead just after 1 a.m. Police, who are still investigating and working to identify the victim, determined the scene of the shooting was the 2900 block of Mosher.

Baltimore County police say a Halethorpe man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and other offenses in connection with the stabbing of his 14-year-old son Saturday morning. Police say Charles V. Palmer, 50, was in his attic in his home in the 600 block of Washington Ave. about 9:30 a.m. with his son. The two were looking at knives when Palmer stabbed the boy in the neck. Palmer dropped the knife and the boy picked it up and ran outside with it, police said. When police arrived, they said, they found the 14-year-old with a large wound on his neck, and he was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital with injuries that were not expected to be life-threatening.
