Jenkins Memorial Church, 133 Riviera Drive, Riviera Beach, will hold a spaghetti dinner from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today in the church's fellowship hall. Menu includes spaghetti, with or without meatballs, salad, bread, dessert and a beverage. Advance tickets are $7, $3 for children ages 5-17 and free for children 4 and younger. Tickets at the door are a dollar more. For more information, call 410-4378-6169 or 410-437-2846. Also, the church's Ladies Aid will be selling homemade Easter eggs.

Whole Foods Market, the latest retailer to offer government shutdown specials, has invited shoppers in on Sunday for a free spaghetti dinner. "With no end in sight to the government shutdown, wanted to pass along what Whole Foods Market is planning to do to help in the community," Katie Malloy, a spokeswoman for the grocer, said in an email. "Because federal workers are not just customers -- they're neighbors, partners, family and friends. " Malloy says Whole Foods is offering more free samples, Wi-Fi and seating to encourage consumers, furloughed or not, to gather at the stores.

The Laurel Fourth of July Committee will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner to raise funds for this year's Independence Day celebration in Laurel. The dinner is Saturday, Feb. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Laurel Police Department's Partnership Activity Center, 811 Fifth St. Menu includes spaghetti with or without meatballs, salad, bread, cookies, iced tea, lemonade and coffee. Dinner costs for adults is $10 in advance and $12 at the door; takeout is $9. Cost for ages 3 to 12 is $5, and children under 3 eat for free.

The United Methodist Men of Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church in Odenton are sponsoring a spaghetti dinner from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday in the church hall. The menu will include spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, a salad bar, cake, coffee, tea and punch. The cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children ages 6 to 12. Boy Scout Troop 794 of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ellicott City will hold its spaghetti dinner from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 in the church's Parish Center, 4795 Ilchester Road. Spaghetti and meatballs, or sausage, salad, bread, desserts and beverages will be served. A raffle and an auction of homemade cakes and desserts are planned. "They have chocolate chip cookie cakes, they have apple pies, chocolate cakes, pineapple upside-down - my husband's favorite, we're always bidding on that one," said Lynne Jones, the parish secretary.
