Centennial had too many offensive weapons for South Carroll's Miami defense and sent the Cavaliers south, 24-13, last night at South Carroll. The Eagles shed their image as a one-dimensional ground-control team, mixing the pass often with the run on the way to their second win in two starts.Centennial senior quarterback Brian Dowell threw the ball 12 times, completing nine for 102 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown pass to senior flanker Dominic Dinisio, softening the South Carroll defense up for tailback Robbie Hauff.

On third-and-10 at the South Carroll 32, Linganore quarterback Doug Wallace rolled right and found a diving Chris Moran at the Cavaliers' 9.Two plays later, Brad MacKay ran up the middle for a 7-yard score.South Carroll (4-2) appeared to have the Linganore drive stopped at the Cavaliers' 37, but the Cavaliers were penalized five yards for having too many men on the field during the punt.

The South Carroll Cavaliers slugged their way through North Carroll, 11-5, yesterday to keep pace with Westminster in the Carroll County championship race and to keep their 3A West Regional playoff hopes alive.No. 9 batter Brian Herche hit a grand slam and Jeremy Hancock a bases-empty homer to lead the Cavaliers' 12-hit charge that also included long run-scoring doubles by Zach Hollman and Ronnie White.Hancock's shot to center field in the sixth inning was hit so hard that North Carroll center fielder Art Crouse just turned around and watched as it sailed over the fence.
