The Single-A South Atlantic League is moving into Salisbury next season.Within the next few weeks, officials of Maryland Baseball Limited Partnership, Inc. will announce the purchase of the Albany (Ga.) Polecats and the franchise's relocation to the Eastern Shore.The sale of the club has been passed by the board of directors of the league and now requires only the approval of the baseball commissioner's office and the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues (minors)."We can't confirm this" until the final approvals are granted, said MBLP chief executive officer Peter Kirk.

Single-A Delmarva infielder Nicky Delmonico was named the Most Valuable Player of tonight's South Atlantic League All-Star Game in Charleston, S.C. Delmonico, the Orioles' No. 6-ranked prospect by Baseball America, played a key role in the North's 3-2 win, going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. The 19-year-old Delmonico hit a one-out infield single to shortstop in the fifth inning, then scored two batters later on Kevan Smith's RBI double to left. Delmonico then laced a one-out double to right, moving to third on an error by South second baseman Delino DeShields.

HAGERSTOWN -- The Hagerstown Suns split a Single-A South Atlantic League doubleheader with the Columbus Red Stixx at Municipal Stadium last night, winning the opener, 6-5, and dropping the nightcap, 3-1.

Yesterday Single-A South Atlantic League playoffs Kannapolis 3, Hagerstown 0: The host Intimidators beat the Suns three games to one to win their their first South Atlantic League Championship. Kannapolis scored the game-winning run in the second and added two more in the fifth. Jack Egbert (1-0) got the win and Garry Baker earned his first save. Blake Eager (0-1) took the loss for Hagerstown. Ryan McCarthy hit his first homer.
