On September 9, 2006, WELFORD E. COLLINS "Billy", 61. Mr. Collins was born in Baltimore, MD, on October 24, 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine C. Harris and Welford Turner. Survivors include one daughter, one son-in-law, two grandchildren, two sisters, two brothers, two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. A Graveside memorial service will take place on Thursday, November 17, at 11 A.M. at Western Star Cemetery.

On August 22, 2008 JUDY ANN (nee Beck), beloved wife of Carl Abernathy, devoted mother of Shannon Feeser, Carol Chapman and the late Carl Abernathy, Jr., mother-in-law of Cynthia Carnes, loving grandmother of Brandon, Ishtar, Elizabeth, Austin and April, dear sister of Jeanette LeBlanc. Also survived by many dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Bruzdzinski Funeral Home, P.A. Interment Holly Hills Memorial Gardens.

Helen H. Quill, a retired seamstress and neighborhood activist, died Friday of cancer at her Southwest Baltimore home. She was 81. Helen Hawkins was born in a Dolphin Street rowhouse and later moved with her family to a home on Tyson Street. From her Tyson Street home, she enjoyed watching the elegantly dressed crowd entering the then-segregated Lyric Theatre, said her son, Calvin B. Quill Jr., of Baltimore. "She loved the notion of making beautiful clothes for others to wear," he said.
