The Lebanese Taverna is hosting a Halloween party on Saturday night to benefit the Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum. The evening includes hors d'ouevres, a costume contest, dancing and silent auction. Tickets to Edgar Allan Poe's Halloween Party are $25, or $35 at the door. The evening is sponsored by the Lebanese Taverna and Raven beer. Silent auction items are being accepted through Tuesday. Contact Susan Gordon at the restaurant for donation information. Art and hors d'oeuvres made a good mix at Maryland Art Place for Hampden Family Center's "Silent Auction & Cocktail Reception." The 225 guests included event chair Dina Mallis Klicos, Hampden Family Center board president Beth Volk and executive director Lisa Ghinger. The shindig collected more than $23,000 for the Center.

Good weather, good crowds and a host of attractions — from rides to a dunk tank, food to raffles — combined to make a successful 2012 edition of the St. Pius X Carnival, hosted this past weekend at the church and school on York Road in Towson. During the three-day event, from Friday to Sunday, carnival patrons enjoyed rides and games, raffles, a silent auction and food that included pit beef, crab cakes, baked goods, fudge and lemonade. The event also included sales of collectibles, used books and other items.

A silent auction will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 23 to benefit the family of Brian Rafkin, 8, who at birth suffered oxygen deprivation and is in need of an occupational therapist.The family needs $50,000 to pay for the therapist to come to the Rafkins' home. The money is needed by June.Donations are needed for the auction. Trips, home-cooked meals, weekend recreation vehicle donation, a boom box, a small black-and-white television and children's items have been donated.The silent auction will take place at the Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department Hall, 6275 Old Washington Road, Elkridge.

Annual gala event to benefit chamber's scholarship fund "Saddle Up for Scholarships!" is the theme for the Baltimore/Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce Foundation's annual gala, to be held from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Feb. 26 at the BWI Marriott in Linthicum. The event will benefit the chamber's scholarship fund. The evening will include dinner, casino entertainment, dancing and a silent auction with a Western motif. Those who attend will receive a commemorative old-time photo. Tickets are $95, and $900 for a table of 10. Sponsorships range from $300 to $3,500, with a variety of recognition opportunities.
