Katie Serlemitsos, Old Mill SPORT LACROSSE GIRLS STATS -- A team captain and defender for the Patriots, Serlemitsos was known for intercepting opponents' passes. Serlemitsos' senior year was her second on the varsity and she hopes to play club lacrosse at Virginia. SIDELINES -- Serlemitsos, who also played basketball and soccer in high school, has a 4.56 weighted grade point average and plans to major in biochemistry. A Maryland Distinguished Scholar finalist and a National Merit Scholar, she is president of the National Honor Society and a student leader and peer helper who is also involved in several community activities.

Jenna Rykiel, Glen Burnie SPORT Basketball GIRLS STATS -- Rykiel averaged only 4.5 points per game, but the point guard dished out 4.2 assists. The junior was a leader on a young team that went 8-15, and Glen Burnie girls basketball coach Dan Mangum said she "is like a coach on the floor." SIDELINES -- A three-sport athlete, Rykiel also plays varsity volleyball and lacrosse and maintains a weighted 4.63 grade point average while taking Advanced Placement courses. The captain of the basketball team, Rykiel is also a member of the dance club, works part-time as a hostess and is involved in volunteer work at her church.

Stu Grantham, Century SPORT WRESTLING BOYS STATS -- Wrestling in the 171-pound weight class, Grantham (29-9 prior to regionals) finished third at the recent Carroll County tournament and entered last weekend's regional meet as a No. 6 seed. SIDELINES -- A private in the Maryland Army National Guard, the senior is scheduled to depart for boot camp in Fort Sill, Okla., in July. He hopes to eventually make a career as an officer in the Army. Another goal is to someday become an educator.
